How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2065702 / WR17X3489 Light Shield

The replacement was made to fit various models. None of the instructions really fit my model. Ended up spending less time actually replacing it than reading the instructions. Took about 15 minutes. Needed a zip tie to hold the wires to back, otherwise the ice drawer would not shut. Works great, faster than the original, makes 8 cubes every 40 minutes. Ice feeler seems more flimsy than the old design which was a lift up wire. New design is a plastic paddle with an on off switch, which could break if not careful reaching in for ice. 

Ordered the parts from Appliance Parts Pro. The first set I ordered were incorrect(I ordered based on the model number of my fridge, apparently there are more than one with my model number), I contacted customer service and they set up a return authorization and sent the correct parts. Ordered regular delivery and received next day, the first set arrived in two days. I plugged the defrost heater in, and replaced thermostat. After the defrost cycle reset, my fridge is sitting at 40 degrees. Excellent experience. 

Removed broken part. Installed new part.
