How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5806905 / WE04X20089 Timer

Replaced timer.Recieved part in time promised and undamaged. Was a fairly easy fix for someone who uaually does not do his on repairs. 

I ordered a replacement Timer and a new Timer Knob. I place my order late on Thursday night and the new parts were delivered on Saturday afternoon. Installation was easy. 

Replaced timer switch. 

Watched the tutorial then found the procedure very easy to do. made a note on paper of which colored wires went where as a back up. The whole procedure took about 20 minutes. 

Replaced timer and knob. The knew knob comes with a metal reinforcing ring around the shaft so it should hold up longer than the original one. 

The timer knob on our GE dryer cracked. We used pliers to set it after that, this was a terrible idea. Soon the stem on the timer was destroyed and now I had to replace it too. I waited too long originally, but I've I decided to fix it, the problem wasn't too bad. I was able to order the parts I needed in about 10 minutes and they were in my mailbox in about 3 days. In about a half hour my dryer was fixed and put back together. I regret not doing it earlier, but was fortunate to still be able to fix everything quickly, affordably, and on my own. I'd say the cost of my repair was less than the service call alone. This was a great experience. Oh....take some quick pictures of the things you disassemble to help you put things back together. 

Replaced timer, timer knob, and start knob. Took about twenty minutes. 

Replaced. 

Replaced timer assembly in 5 minutes and immediately corrected. Half the cost of the same part at the local appliance repair shop. 

Ordered new parts and watched the video that was included with the email confirmation. If was very helpful!
