How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6027534 / WE04X24551 Dryer Timer

Ordered replacement timer & dial knob (separate items). Quick ship, accurate part description & delivery. Shut off the breaker or pull dryer plug. Remove upper control housing.....swap wiring one for one from old to the new timer. ...remove old-timer & install new...reinstall control housing. Power-up & test run. Clean up. 

I ordered a new knob and the switch, watched a video online on how to remove and replace it. I did this all by myself, no help from hubby. The hardest part was getting that little tiny screw out that holds the unit in. It couldn't be a regular screw like a Philips head. No it was a six sided screw and very tiny. Anyway, got it out finally and the rest went smoothly. I had originally ordered the wrong knob online. After getting the wrong one I phoned them to make sure I got the right one. I am sure I saved a lot of money by not having the repairman out. GE parts are expensive enough without having to take a mark-up from a service. Thank you Appliance Parts Pros for your help!

Replaced timer and dial 

Ordered a dryer timer and dryer timer knob, parts delivered as promised and on time. Used a battery operated drill and a bit to remove the back of the dryer where the timer was located. The hardest part was removing the screw that held the timer because of the angle where the screw was located. Used a bit that fit the screw and hand unscrewed it. Removed the wires attached to the old timer one at a time and plugged them in on the new timer as I went. Attached new timer in place and put the timer knob on and then tested the dryer. It worked!! Reattached the back cover. 

Replaced with new one, and followed video instructions 

Replaced with genuine GE parts from you. 

Replaced the defective part. 

Replaced the timer, took me about 20 minutes. 

I watched a YouTube video and having extensive maintenance experience changing the timer and know was relatively easy. My dryer matched the video exactly. Beginning to end probably 30 minutes. The hardest part is always pulling out the dryer far enough to get to the back. Remember to unplug the dryer. Also, having a T10 wrench isn't likely for most people. I had one and it is necessary to get out one tiny screw hold the timer in place.
