Installed new timer. 

I ordred a new timer online and it came the next day. I watched the video and although it seemed easy, I had trouble removing the wires with a flat head screwdriver. I should have read the other postings that suggested using a plier. I had to wait for my husband to remove the wires on the weekend, then I reinstalled all the wires and it seems to be working fine now. Hopefully that has solved the problem. 

Replaced the bad part with the new and it is working perfectly.

Replaced both the timer and the knob. Should have just replaced the knob in the first place, there wasn't actually anything wrong with the timer until I broke the plastic stalk off.
