Clyde H Chesapeake , VA November 30, 2019 Water started running from washer as it was filling Did a diagnostic review of available videos of real-world repairs and based on that information pinpointed the problem as the tub seal. Then found diagram, identified parts, needed. I did not use spanner wrench, soaked nut threads overnight, used 6" pipe wrench and hammer. Agitator removal biggest challenge used 2 ropes and 2 pc of 2x2 to remove the stuck agitator. Spent some time to clean shaft and inset on the tub basket, lubricated with a light coat of grease. Disassembly was a challenge, did not know what to expect, the assembly went well (studied video / made notes). Diagnosis correct, unit works well. Ordered parts had 2-day delivery, excellent service. Ed F Oakdale , CA September 09, 2019 Appliance: Model GE WHRE5550K2WW Washer was making a loud jet engine sound when spinning. Replaced Mode Shifter and shaft assembly. The hardest part was removing the tub nut. I did not bother with the tool they sell. I used and impact wrench and a 1-11/16" claw foot I have. A socket would have been better but I didn't have one. Even after letting oil drip into the nut, it took quite a beating with the 1/2" impact gun at full blast. The tub bearing was the second hardest thing. I had to pound it out from the inside carefully to not damage the tub. The tub seal was totally shot and corroded causing some water to drip below onto the mode shifter bearing. While I was doing the job decided to get the tub bearing, tub seal, new belt, and all new hardware. The washer is about 10+ years old and hope I don't need to get in there for another 10+ years. Spent about $200 and about 5 hours, but I took my time working at a cautious pace. The washer sounds brand new again....nice and quiet. Read More... Mike R Cohoes , NY February 15, 2019 Appliance: Model GE GTWN3000MWS Mode shifter & shaft assembly REPAIR was successful.... The major difficulty I had was getting the Hub Nut off, Yes I had the spanner wrench and turning the correct way.... Many people have this problem..... Easy solution for me was just drill many holes in the nut, ( being careful not to drill to far)..... The nut is soft metal and very easy to drill and then I use a cold chisel to take the nut off in pieces.. Not a hard task.. the rest is just nuts and bolts, just follow Appliancepro Video... ~"ATTENTION"~ I made 1 mistake, here it is so you will avoid doing the same....... Putting things back together I did use a new Hub Seal, but when I was done I looked underneath while it was filling up and agitating, I seen water dripping down the shaft... :( I took the inner tub back out to check and see what was going on and remove the tub seal..........I looked at the top of the hub bearing (I called it a sleeve) something didn't look right so I took my finger and picked at it... There was two small circular very thin springs that came out of the old falling apart Hub Seal...... They were around the shaft between the hub bearing (sleeve) and shaft hard to see.. Remove.,,,,Reassemble it works great now... Hope this Helps someone...... Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
