How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5251356 / 6201EC1006T Noise Filter Assembly

The problem landed up being the filter assembly, it's the part that the electrical cord runs & I imagine converts the voltage to the washer, I don't know why it's called the filter assembly. But it worked. 

It would work if I unplugged it, waited 30 sec, and plugged it back in. From reading the other user comments, sounded like either the Washer Electronic Control Board, or the Noise Filter Assembly. I ordered the NFA and it came in 2 days. Replacing it was easy with the APP.com video, and it was fixed! Prices were much lower than Sears PartsDirect, so I'll be using Appliance Parts Pros from now on. 

After researching the symptoms (only operates if you unplug and re-plug), I determined that the cause was the noise filter (of which I had previously been happily ignorant of). I ordered the part form Appliance Parts Pros and it was at my door within 24 hours! Their on line video was extremely hepful! APP's fast service and excellent on line instruction made this a painless episode. 

It was going to take almost 2 weeks for our Sears guy to get part and fix washer. I got the part cheaper and faster through AppliancePartsPros and had the machine up and running the next day. Great customer service and an easy website to use. Thanks.

Fortunately, during the remodel, the contractor exposed the right side wall of the unit, which allowed me to see the "burnt" part at the very bottom of the DW. Using a short phillips head screwdriver, I was able to unfasten the damaged component, removing it after disconnecting the two plugs. It was easy to replace the part, after plugging the cords back I simply returned the component to its original location with the original screw.

Upon removing the top cover of the washer, it was quite apparent that the noise filter had encountered a thermal failure. The plastic housing was cracked and scorched, and the end of the power cord assembly had melted as well. (This is a common failure for this appliance; one wonders why the noise filter has been located directly above the dryer heating element, when there is space for it on the other side of the machine near the control board...) Replacing the noise filter is a matter of two connectors and one screw; the power cord assembly also is only one screw and twisting a plastic retainer through the fitting of the housing. This is probably the easiest repair you can do.

Removed the filter assembly (which is some sort of electronic transformer) and replaced. Works fine, very easy repair.
