Lawrence F Howell , NJ February 08, 2021 Appliance: LG Washer WM2455HG Door hinge seized up, wouldn’t close properly and leaked water. I removed and replaced the door hinge. The tip of the day here is to have a heat gun. The hinge mounting screws are installed with some type of locktite. The screws were unable to be removed. I heated each screw for about 30 sec and then they busted loose with ease. I did the whole job I under an hour. I did the entire job from the front of the washer. Chris H Florence , KY February 01, 2020 Appliance: LG Washer WM2301HR Water entering tank with machine off along with door hinge not functioning correctly and a nasty door seal. Unplug machine.. Shut off water supply to machine. Remove top cover. Take picture of valve assembly for reference later. Disconnect water supply hoses to machine. Remove and replaced both fill valves. Moving on to the door hinge. This hinge can be replaced without removing front cover. I did it just to see if I could. One note of advise is do not use a drill driver to R & R the screws that hold the hinge to the machine. Mine snapped one of the heads off. There are still five left so door is plenty secure. After I replaced the door hinge I went on and removed front panel. The best advise I can give anyone is to find and watch one of the many helpful videos on YouTube. The door seal is the hardest part of this fix because of the many steps involved in removing the front cover. Use detergent to lube the areas of the door seal that go over the outer tub and the door panel. This is a must and be liberal with the detergent. Again watch videos pausing when necessary. While you are in the machine, clean whatever you can and also clean your pump filter at the lower left of the front panel. Reassemble machine, connect water supply hoses and turn the water back on. Check for leaks. Plug machine back into the wall outlet. I did a test run by running a normal cycle with an Affreash tablet just to help clean the inside of the tubs. All in all an easy fix just be patient.. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
