The LG Door Hinge Assembly is an essential component of LG washers. This OEM replacement part is specifically designed to ensure the smooth and secure operation of the washer's door. The hinge assembly is responsible for connecting the door to the main body of the appliance, allowing easy access to the washing drum. It provides stability and durability to the door, enabling it to open and close effectively during the washing and loading processes.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty in opening or closing the washer door
  • Door sagging or misalignment
  • Excessive noise or squeaking when operating the door
  • The door not staying securely closed during washing cycles
  • Visible damage or wear on the hinge assembly

Hugh for Model Number WM2487HRM

The right side of the door closes easily and firmly. The left side of the door when closed has about 1/2 inch of front to back "play" in it. By this, I mean when the door is closed I can push on the door and it will move. There is a small amount of water that leaks down the front of the washer at the center point of the door. How much "play" should there be in a hinge that is not worn out? Will replacing the hinge solve the leaking problem. FYI, I have already changed the rubber gasket, so I know the gasket is not worn or damaged.

1 Answer

Hugh, if the springs of the door hinge 4775ER2002A are not worn, the door assembly 3581ER1012A would need to be inspected for any worn or damaged hinge mount sections as there should not be that much play. The hinge mounting screws would also need to be checked to ensure they are properly tightened. Unfortunately, if a failure is found with the hinge or door, both parts have been discontinued by the manufacturer and are no longer available.

Roger for Model Number WM2688HWM

Ok, I just replaced the hinge on my washer and it now leaks from the front door. If you look at the door, the right side is much tighter than the left side. As the washer is in operation, it begins to leak and the only way to stop it is by pushing in the left side of the door, hinge side. The hinge is pushing the door away from the seal causing the leak. Again, if I push the hinge side in the leak stops, but the tension of the hinge pushes the door away from the seal. Is there an adjustment for the hinge? Any help will be appreciated.

Roger, you may want to check the hinge assembly from the inside of the panel to ensure that it is mounted firmly in place and that the hinge portion itself is able to rotate inwards completely. If the hinge is unable to rotate inwards properly, this will cause tension and not allow the door to seat properly.

Mona, To replace the hinge it is not necessary to replace the whole door. You would just need to disassemble the door to replace it.

Dwayne, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty door boot gasket that would need to be replaced.

Troy, We will need to have the model number of your unit to be able to assist with your question but sounds like it would be a wiring issue.

Jeff, Unfortunately we do not have the screws for this either and you best option will be to go to the hardware store with one of the original screws if you have one and match it up that way.

Dwayne, Unfortunately the manufacturer does not list the screws for the hinges. You would want to take the original screws and try to match them up at local hardware store.
