How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4440415 / 5989JA1005D Ice Maker Assm.,Kit

Ordered a new ice maker 

I unplugged the refrigerator from the wall. I removed the ice maker assembly by undoing the three screws and unclipping the wiring harness. I inserted the new ice maker assembly kit, re-attached the wiring harness and re-installed the three screws. Took less than five minutes and all I needed was a Phillips head screwdriver. 

Replaced the unit 

I ordered a replacement Ice maker for less than it would cost to get a service tech out. And with a 5 minute plug and play install the problem was fixed. The part arrived in 2 days. I a very happy with appliancepartspros.com and will recommend and use again. Mark Evans 

Removed one screw on the front left, looking in the fridge. Unit slipped off and unplugged one harness. Plugged the new one in, slid into place, and installed screw and it was done. It took longer to remove the items from the freezer and clean up the ice clumps than to remove and replace the icemaker. 

Ice maker in LG fridge has a plastic tray that is twisted to release the ice. The plastic would hold a little twist so when it filled, the water ran out of the low corner down into the ice bucket and froze it into a lump. The replacement ice maker incorporated a design improvement having the edge of the tray higher to prevent water from escaping when it filled, so replacement corrected the problem. 

I ordered a ice maker from Appliance Parts. The order was completed without any difficulty whatsoever. My ice maker arrived exactly in the time frame my order identified it would arrive. I simply took the ice maker out of the box and within a period of a little over five minutes, I had put the ice maker back in the refrigerator and within a period of 30-45 minutes, I was enjoying having ice instaed of having to purchase ice from the local grocery store. While skeptical that the maker was going to fix the whole thing, I tried anyway. The ice maker was remarkably easy to replace. One phillips head screw and the piece slides out. I disconnected the wires, slipped the new one in, plugged in the new maker and voila! It's been 3 days and we're getting cubes again and can even use the dispenser. It took more time to get a kid to get behind the fridge to unplug it. Replacing the part took < 4 minutes. 

Replaced the ice maker. 

Called repairman $130. He thawed it out told us to keep doing that as needed. If he had to come back $300+ for call and icemaker. Still made a mess and did not work.
