How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4450216 / EBR34917104 Main Electronic Control Board

Replaced the computer board. 

Replaced control board. 

Simply, manually push in door pin switches to confirm normal operation: cooling, fan turned on, everything worked except the interior lights(stayed on). They were super hot and actually started to blacken the top of the light fixture housing. I read the main control board was responsible for correct operation of the lights. So, I purchased a new board guessing from my research and talking to the appliance parts pros. I didn’t buy new door switches. I followed the video instructions for the board. I highly recommend you watch, because the clips attached to the board need to be carefully removed to prevent damage. 

Known problem with previous recall back in 2015.... recommended fix was to replace the control board. This is the action taken, to replace the control board. The video outlining the steps in replacing the control board was extremely helpful, which allowed me to install the control board myself rather than hiring an outside technician. What I thought would require a trained electrician was something that was extremely easy to complete myself. 

I used on line site to diagnose the solution and ordered the parts. The videos made it very clear how to make the changes. It would have cost me over $600 to have it repaired locally. It cost me less than $150 to do it myself. The only problem was the front support rod on the light housing broke off in shipping, but it wasn't a critical part and the housing is still help solidly in place. 

Ok so far 

Purchased the motherboard for it and replaced it 

Bought to three items that could have been the problem and replacing them took about an hour or so. Fixed the problem. 

I replaced the control board
