Remove and replace with new ones. I followed (multiple) instructional videos. BUT: my dryer has the steam option, with some extra hardware installed. Removal was NOT as easy as the videos showed:
-Top would not slide back until the outer bracket was also removed because of interference by steam-feature cover on the rear of the dryer. As I reinstalled, I determined that the top could have been slid back if only I'd depressed the interfering cover down.
- Because of the steam feature, the console had two long screws recessed on the left front side and only one attachment screw on the back of the console, rather than two or three screws on that back.
- The top front bracket behind the console had to be removed to get the bulkhead out. The air channel at the bottom had to be unscrewed from the frame to allow bulkhead removal.
- The air channel at the bottom also covered access to one of the rollers, so it had to be completely removed from the bulkhead anyway.
I did spend quite a bit of time just vacuuming the machine while I had it open. I broke the lint filter guide "door", but the repair would nol require disassembling the dryer. Next time I do, I will have invested in appropriate gloves to help prevent sheet-metal cuts!
