How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5973402 / 6501KW2001B Rotor Position Sensor

I replaced it. 

Just replace the sensor assembly,remove the cover on back,remove one bolt 17mm,remove the rottor,then remove 6 bolts 10mm,pull easy and fold the stator, sensor is on back,replace it.When you loose the 17mm bolt have somebody to hold the rottor and you loosen it. very easy 

After determining that the tub position sensor was faulty, the sensor was replaced. Using a battery power impact driver to remove the stator retaining bolt was very helpful. This bolt was installed with tread lock in the factory. Removal of this bolt without an impact driver is difficult at best and not possible at worst. Reinstalling this bolt with blue tread lock is necessary for a successful long term repair. 

I was able to replace the sensor I ordered, thus fixing my problem. It ran like new after the repair. 

Watched a video on LG washer not spinning and it indicated that the position sensor was the probable issue. Ordered the part. It arrived in about 2 days. Dropped the back panel, pulled the motor outer housing, then the coils. Changed the sensor. Replaced all the original components and gave the machine a test rinse and spin. Everything worked fine. Replace the back cover and put the stack back into place. Work great now. 

Gave this part a try as it was the cheapest and most likely fix. 

RESEARCHED SYMPYOMS ON SEVERAL SITES AND FORUMS, CHECKED MOTOR AND CONTROL PANEL WITH MULTIMETER AFTER WATCHING INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS. CONCLUDED IT MUST BE HALL SENSOR, WATCHED SEVERAL MORE HOW TO VIDEOS AND READ STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS. MY HUSBAND ANDI REPLACED PART WITHIN 15 MINUTES. WASHER WORKS GRET NOW. 

Replace sensor ordered from appliance parts pros. 

I took apart the back panel so I could see where the noise was coming from. I could tell right away that the noise was coming from the stator rotor area. I first unplugged the washer and removed the rotor from the stator. I then removed the stator and looked for any unusual marks on the stator. Basically checking for broken wiring or burnt wiring. I also checked the rotor for anything unusual. I then figured that the sensor that was connected to the stator assembly was bad. At the time I was not sure how to do a test on the stator and get the correct readings. So I bought the sensor and installed it. Works like a charm now.
