How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5973402 / 6501KW2001B Rotor Position Sensor

After troubleshooting all the possible easy fixes (i.g., reinstalling, thermal overload, load issues, over-sudsing) I decided to order the hall sensor. I followed the instructions laid out on this page: http://fixitnow.com/wp/2010/08/03/the-dreaded-le-error-code-in-lg-washing-machines-diagnosis-troubleshooting-root-causes-and-repair/ once I replaced the Hall sensor I turned the machine on, works perfectly. Super easy fix. 

The motor array sensor fixed this issue. The website had 2 to choose from so before I ordered it I first compared the actual part. My 6 year washer is now back and working great. A 20 dollar part and 20 minutes of work. I used a 17mm socket to remove the motor cover and 10mm socket to remove the coil array but if you watch the video on the website it helped a lot. 

Watching a few YouTube videos lead me to your site and directly to the part I needed. Your helpful descriptions and videos made it very easy for me to tackle this job. You Guys Rock!! 

Replaced Hall Sensor 

Replaced motor position sensor after checking it with multimeter. (It had failed completely as was open on a Ohm check) About an hour to troubleshoot and repair. Not including the amazing fast 2 day shipping. Direct drive brushless motors are easy to work on. 

I checked three separate components, based on similar experiences of other friends. The water pump was ok and the stator look ok (no electrical burns, wiring was fine, etc.). After viewing a You Tube video of a washing machine making a similar noise as mine (metallic grinding sound when spinning), the video suggested the problem was a bad sensor. Replaced the sensor assembly (had to first remove the stator assembly in order to access the hall-effect sensor) and this solved the problem. Washer runs like it's new! 

I ordered a new hull sensor and installed it in less than 20 minutes. Works like a champ! Thank you for all your help and guidance!! 

Found solution online. Others had same problem. Sensor assembly went bad. Ordered correct part. Bad sensor assembly. 

Replaced the sensor as was suggested by your experts and the machine functions correctly again. took about 30 minutes all together to complete the part replacement. Thank you very much!
