How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5973402 / 6501KW2001B Rotor Position Sensor

Replaced hall sensor. Repair was quite easy. My only caution to others is that after removing the single bolt that secures the stator cover to the hub, the cover was very difficult to remove. Had to grab it on opposing sides and "rock" it off of the hub with a bit of effort. The repair video I watched showed the cover simply sliding off. Overall the repair was surprisingly easy. 

Found error code on this site and watched video on how to repair. Decided I could handle that! Ordered part from AppliancePartsPros (was cheapest too) and received part in 2 days! Took me 10 mins to remove old part and less than 5 to install new part. Washer has been error free since. Fixed the whole thing for under $30.00 (incl. shipping) and 15 minutes of my time! Great site! 

After reading several other reviews on this part, i decided that this was likely our problem as well. I ordered the part, it arrived in two days, took me 5 minutes to swap it out, and, voila, the machine is fixed and is working great. 

The washer would start to fill, then throw the error code. In the beginning, I could reset it, but the frequency of the errors increased to the point where it happened every time and the washer was unusable. The motor would turn, so I was skeptical that was the actual problem. The advice to check the stator position sensor was correct. I ordered that $18 part and it fixed the issue. The interesting thing is the SENSOR ASSY (position sensor) is not available as a service part from GE. Their exploded view doesn't even show it. You can only buy the whole STATOR ASSY for $245. However, AppliancePartsPros.com sells the original LG SENSOR ASSY as a separate part! Note: WPGT9350C0PL is a top load machine so the unit has to be turned on to its side to access the motor. The video shows a front load machine, which only requires removing the rear access panel. Otherwise, the concept of the repair is the same - even though some details are different (ex. motor shaft has a nut vs. bolt). The actual repair takes about 20 min, but the prep and clean up of having to tip the washer over adds to the total time. 

My washer act like it was trying to spin, and started screeching like a belt was slipping. It kept trying to weighting the clothes filling up with water. looked on YouTube for lg washers with LE code.Saw a video saying that it is a sensor, and had a picture of it.., saying it's easy to fix! It had a website for AppliancePartsPros.com. when I was searching for the part, and thought found it. A pop up chat window appeared, so I let her help me with my order. The price changed 5cents cheaper, and boy I'm glad I let her help me, because I was ordering the wrong part looks similar last 3 digits 185 for WM1815CS, I HAD 186 SO MAKE SURE YOU USE THE EXACT PART.. OME! High 5 to the tech who help me.. :). Got the part in 2 days, 30 min repair saved me A Lot of Money.. I just knew I was going to have to buy a knew one plus matching dryer.. My unit is 10yrs. old works like I just got it out of the box!!!!! PS. DONT FORGET "BLUE PERMATEX".. 

Replace hall effect rotor position sensor. Ran two loads since position sensor replacement and both errors seem to be gone. Special thanks to other posts that prompted me to order just the Whirlpool position sensor instead of the entire stator as GE parts forced. 

Replaced rotor position sensor (6501KW2001A). Worked for only 1 wash. After moving washer back in house, had to restart multiple times because "error" message continue to display. I left it on for about an hour, then restarted and it started to work. Could air lock in water outlet cause this issue? As of today, it is still working. Thanks Video was great!! 

There is a YouTube video on how to replace this sensor. This is my second time doing this repair on this washer. This sensor seems to go bad over the years. I’m very thankful for the appliance parts pro store for getting me back and running with rush shipping. 

Your site showed similar cases which recommended replacing the Rotor Position Sensor. Sounded plausible and your video showed the repair to be simple so I ordered the Sensor. The part arrived within 48 hrs. An hour later the new sensor was installed. I have a top loader so it took a bit to move the washer and tip it on it's side (and clean up the water that came gushing out). Anyway, now it works fine. 

I removed the rotor & checked for wear in the splines. The splines were plastic & slightly worn in one direction. I ordered a new one. Installed the new one & had the same problem. The chattering sound seemed to be something hitting the rotor, but after some research, I found that seemed to be a common problem with a defective positioning sensor. I ordered & replaced the positioning sensor & the LG WM1355HR washer works fine.
