How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5657415 / MHY62044106 Flapper Door Spring

Removed 3 plastic spacers by dislodging them with a screwdriver. Then I slid the center panel up to install new spring. Finally, slid panel back down, snapped the spacers back in place, and I was done. 

The spring on our door mullion broke off one leg, and in the process broke away the plastic rings that secure it on the mullion. The replacement mullion came complete with a spring and installed in four minutes start to finish. 

Replaced leaking flap. 

Watched youtube video, then ordered replacement spring from you guys. Amazing how many different spring model numbers there are - I was fortunate to order the right one on the first try. When it got here, I realized the reason I needed to replace it was that one of the "ears" that held it in place had broken off, so it wasn't going to stay in place. I was able to glue a piece of brass tubing I had to the door flipper, and so far, it is holding. Mission accomplished. 

Watched the “how to replace” video and it took only 10 minutes, next will be the stove top. 

Found the part by online searching. But however, the spring was not fitting my refrigerator. Later I did an additional search and found a YouTube for the installation. From the video, I finally figured out the spring part has 2 versions, and they are in 2 different directions. Part number 103 does not fit my need, instead, the 106 is the right part. They look the same but actually, they are in 2 different directions. I learned it a hard way and spent double, more than $40 . The good thing is that I fixed my refrigerator 

Ordered new spring from AppliancePartsPros and installed it myself. 

I at first tried inserting one end of the spring in the mullion then using pliers to tried to lift the other end of the spring to insert it in the door location. Then tried doing it in the other way. still not successful. I once 3 clips, 1 at each hinge of the mullion. I removed them then I could raise the mullion slightly which allowed me to get the spring installed 

New spring. Was very happy how fast it came! Wow! 

Removed the flap (two screws); followed video to remove the cover and correctly place the new spring so that the flap now works correctly. CAUTION: hold the weight of the flap as you remove the screws to avoid ripping out the wires like I did. There is apparently a "dehumidifier" circuit built into the flap to eliminate condensation. Since a replacement flap is $, we will be accepting condensation instead.
