How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4442090 / 6600JB1010A Refrigerator Door Switch

Bulb was fine, light wouldn't come on when door was opened.popped in the new switch. Fixed! 

Unplug the fridge first - that's 120v going through the wires you're working with. Pried the old switch out by using a putty knife in the front of the switch to catch the release, and a straight-blade screwdriver to help pry it out. Examine the new switch to see the release so you know what you're trying to get at. It did not come voluntarily like in the video - took a few minutes. On my fridge there was no indent at the front of the switch - my switch was flat to fridge wall - hence the need for the putty knife. When out then use the screwdriver to lift the plug off, put the plug on the new switch, and work the switch back in. Goes in easier than it comes out, though not instant. 

Watch the video ..fix it in 5 mins....appliance parts store wanted $56.00 plus tax. From AppliancePartsPros.com it cost me 20$ 

I googled the refrigerator model and "light switch" and found a link to Appliance Parts Pros. There was a YouTube video on how to replace the light switch and a link to buy the correct part. It was an easy and inexpensive fix. Before the internet, I would have called an appliance repair person at a much higher cost. Thank you Appliance Parts Pros! 

After hearing the wife complain for several years that she couldn't find anything in the fridge, I finally gathered my courage and ordered an new switch. I waited for my daughter to come and visit and talked her friend into the job. We saw the video.the old switch didn't come out that easy but putting the new one in was a breeze. 

Look up how to fix a light switch on YouTube and order the part from AppliancePartsPros and then I installed it. 

I replaced the door switch. 

Replaced switch Just pop out, unplug old - plug in new and pop in. All of 5 minutes. Lot cheaper than paying repairman ???? 

Installed a new switch. 

Ordered the part and watched the video and fixed it
