I removed and replaced the door latch switch assembly. Before doing so, I reviewed a number of different online videos to make sure I had the gist of the procedure, which also involved removing the microwave from over the oven and re-installing it afterwards (both are a two-man task for most people). After getting the microwave down with the help of my neighbor and having removed the cover, I followed the procedure recommended by 'misterfixit' to safely discharge the high-voltage capacitor without damaging either you or the capacitor. (He used a heavy-duty 150K Ohm 25W resistor, which I didn't have. I found that a 600W-rated incandescent dimmer switch works just as well.) Once that was done, it was fairly straightforward to remove and replace the latch switch assembly.
