How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5587936 / DA97-11092B Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly

Replaced with new ice maker. Got the part number from the dead one. Found it quickly on the web site, orderedand had it in two days. I watched the video, which showed where the hidden tabs to disassemble are It literally took longer to watch the video, than to change the ice maker. Super simple job and saved a $150 service call, and probably had the ice maker working quicker than have a tech do it. 

Simple fix. It took about 10 minutes and didn't even have to shut the water off. A Phillips screwdriver is needed to remove the screws and a flat blade screwdriver to pry the assembly away from the door panel. Easy, Easy! 

I changed the icemaker in probably under 10 minutes. Now I have ice. 

Replaced the ice maker assembly. 

Unbolted the old and bolted in the new. 

Our ice maker stopped making ice so I tried some of the suggested repair solutions on YouTube to no avail. At that point, I found on YouTube an icemaker replacement video produced by “AppliancePartsPros.com” which illustrated how to replace a nonworking icemaker in a Samsung side by side refrigerator. I telephoned “AppliancePartsPros.com” and ordered the correct icemaker. I received the unit in two days and installed it in 15 minutes with no issues. We now have as much ice as could ever be needed and I’m the hero in our home! 

Simple fix - remove seven screws and detached old and put in new. Took less than 30 minutes. 

We ordered the recommended part and now our ice maker is doing what it is designed to do - Make Ice.
