How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4979323 / DA32-10104N Refrigerator Temperature Sensor

Replaced sensor waiting to see if part will fix the problem. 

I replaced heater metal,Thermo bi-metal and for good measure I replaced the sensor also. I also cleaned the unit throughout the bottom. It has worked like new now. 

Almost 3 year old Samsung fridge kept icing up behind "Twin Cooling Plus" back panel on upper fridge section every 30-60 days. So I replaced the temp or defrost sensor about 30 days ago. So far, so good. Will know for sure in another 30 days. I watched a couple YouTube videos on how to get the panels off (otherwise I never would figured it out), which were spot on. Hardest part was taking all the food out and waiting for the ice to melt. Advice: be patient, don't try to force the panel off for 1 hour, until the ice melts which is holding the panel to the cooling fins. If it ices up again, will next replace the entire defrost system. 

Replaced the temperature sensor which stabilized the temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer zones. 

I first looked at the step-by-step video posted on the applicancepartspro website. I followed it and paused as I went along. It was a very easy replacement and did it entirely on my own within 20 min. My fridge is back to normal with no ice buildup! 

After confirming my refrigerator/freezer model number and that the temperature sensor was failing, I found the correct part and an easy to follow instructional video from appliance parts pros. I disassembled the drawer, removed the back panel and old sensor then installed the new one. Reassembling the drawer was tricky. I had to ask for help holding the drawer front in place while I reattached to the glides. Not a bad job for a 56 yr old woman and her octegenarian parents. 

I watched the video on AppliancePartsPros.com first. Then determining where I would need to get at, ordered all the serviceable parts in that location. Two temperature sensors and the defrost sensor. Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong part. After looking at the diagrams more closely, I found the right part and figured I may as well replace the fan motor when I'm in there again. AppliancePartsPros.com has helped me fix the dryer (heating element and temperature sensors), The dishwasher (Main board and touch panel) and one other refrigerator. I would have paid thousands or bought new appliances without their help. I keep coming back, because for a few dollars I can extend the life of my appliances way beyond expected lifespan and manufacturer warranty.

Replaced the Temperature Sensor and the Defrost Heater. 

My fan was probably ok, but since I had things torn apart I went ahead and replaced all three parts. It took longer to empty the fridge than it did to replace the parts. There was no wire splicing required as is shown in the videos. Seems the newer refrigerators have changed the design so that is no longer required.
