How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5578979 / DA61-07540A Refrigerator Freezer Handle Support

Remove old parts…. Replace with new. Easy… received correct replacement parts… the only downside is the price. 

Bought the parts they fit well. 

These parts were perfect and the repair was simple. It took all of 10 minutes tops. Philips head screwdriver, thin flat head to pry the end cap off and an Allen wrench for the set screw is all that was needed. 

Easy fix. Obtain new plastic attachment. Then followed helpful YouTube video. 

Ordered part online. 

Took the handle off, removed the broken plastic and installed the new part 

The freezer drawer handle of my Samsung fridge model RF323TEDBSR/AA came off. I found the plastic insert broken on the right end of the handle. This is the end with the set screw mechanism. Most sites I checked didn't give an option to order the part required...just the entire handle. Through internet searches I ended up ordering a part that happened to be for the other end so it wouldn't work for my need. It did fit, but it was for the opposite side and had no metal insert. I searched that part on Appliance Parts Pros and found the correct part with the metal insert included. I checked the part using the model number reference and it showed incompatible with my model. I called APP and spoke to a very helpful person. She looked it up with me and their system showed the plastic inserts for my fridge model to be obsolete and unavailable. The only option was a new handle for $90. Considering the part I ordered by mistake fit my handle...just on the wrong end...I went ahead and placed an order for the correct part taking a chance. Part DA61-07540A arrived in a couple of days and worked like a champ. Problem solved for $12. I'm writing this review to hopefully help someone else in the same predicament. 

Got a part from appliance pros that secures handle to latch. All it took was an allen wrench and a pocket knife. Popped the plastic piece out of the end of the handle , loosened the set screw with allen wrench and removed part that needed replacement. Slid the new part in, put the handle in place , tightened set screw , replaced plastic end piece by pushing it into place and the repair was completed. 

Too out the broken plastic insert, replaced it with the new part. It was a very simple fix. 

Replacement part fit precisely. Fixed in five minutes.
