How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6022813 / WPW10546503 Upper Rack Adjuster

Ordered the part, and determined how to remove the rack from the dishwasher. Took my time to determine how to detach the adjuster retainer clips, which was fairly easy. Then replaced the adjuster, replaced the clips, and re installed the rack...took about fifteen minutes. 

Removed upper dish rack, then used a flat tipped screwdriver to gently pry the upper adjuster’s cover piece. Then replaced both sliding adjusters.. 

Plastic support tab on one side broke, so ordered new part after researching on-line. Had never taken rack out before, and tab on the other side broke when taken it out. Instructions for replacing adjuster assume that you know how to take the rack out. Replacement was easy when I knew what to do. Screwdrivers were needed to guide parts back together or to help pry pieces apart, not for screwing or unscrewing anything. Reinstallation was relatively simple, but required care not to break a support tab in the process. Recommendation - Replace both of the adjusters at the same time. If the plastic is brittle for one, it will be brittle for the other as well. 

Take the old one out ...

Replaced the broken bracket which I ordered from Appliance Parts Pro 

I ordered one replacement upper rack adjuster and installed it into my unit. As a point to keep in mind, while removing the rack from my washer, one of the clips on the opposite side adjuster broke; I recommend purchasing a second adjuster to replace both at the same time. 

Bought this replacement part, and it all snapped together. A bit tricky to snap all the pieces in place correctly, but by looking at the other side it was fairly easy. No tools needed.
