How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6238143 / W11106747 Bellow

I ordered the gasket (perhaps called Bellow) from "ApplianePartsPros.com" and received it in 3 days and personally made the replacement. The whole of the job was not very difficult and was completed in approximately 40 minutes. I did prepare while the part was on order by removing the old "Bellows". Note: there is a Phillips screw on the inner most retention ring (top) which is easily accessed once identified. The job required two people for the installation of the outer (spring loaded) ring. 

So easy after watching the video my 11yr old could've fix the gasket. 

Replaced all rubber and plastic hoses coming into and exiting the washer discharge pump. They where gummed up with mold and slime. WOW it stopped all odor from discharge into the utility sink. This model required that the whole front of the washing machine be removed which was very intimidating, but after watching the video from Appliance Parts Pros it was easy, I also replaced discharge pump and the bellows since I had it apart anyway and it was 5 years old. Thank you Appliance Parts Pros I almost bought a new washer but your videos saved me $1500. 

The job was a pretty easy fix The only trouble I had was getting the outer spring band back on there should be an easier way of doing this. 

I followed the online video from appliance parts and it went smoothly. Plus, the part was delivered very quickly. 

Door gasket was very moldy & developed an intermittent leak after 10 years. Followed instructions from the video which were easy to remember & follow. Had to prop up the front of the washing machine to access the four 1/4" hex screws on the bottom of the front panel. Removing the front panel took a bit longer because one of these lower screws were to difficult to remove. Used a 6mm socket which doesn't 100% fit but gave a better grip on the screw. Glad I cleaned out the junk from the filter/trap while it was accessible. Used an 18 count egg tray to catch the water. 

I looked up the replacement part on AppliancePartsPros.com then watched the “how to” video on what was involved in replacing it. It looked pretty easy so I ordered the part(came the next day!) and I replaced it. I was gonna order a spring spreader but couldn’t find one that would be wide enough so I made one with some 1/4 threaded rod, eyelets, and nuts. I got this from a guy who made it on the net) it worked great. The video had the guy pulling the string on but he looked like he’s done it a 1000 times, I didn’t want to struggle! 

Easy to find the right part, fix it in minimal time and have it up and going like brand new. One step was omitted from the video pertaining to our model of washing machine. Folding the inside part of the bellow over the jagged white round piece outside of the drum. After doing this, the drum spun normally with the inside of the bellow laying flatter with less friction. Thanks to AppliancePartsPros and their ease of getting parts at the right price and the DIY videos, it was an easy fix! 

Bought bellow from AppliancePartsPros and watched their replacement video and other Youtube videos on the subject and as a result, the replacement went very well and the Maytag is back up and running with no water leaks. On the backside, for those watching these repair videos, all these videos I watched made the Bellow reseating clamp and sealing areas appear easy - which is not the case. To do this correctly the first time, First, the alignment of the bellow to the markings on the drum isn't particularly correct. The instructions in these videos should emphasize the proper alignment of the drain holes in the bellow to the drum flange are more critical. Secondly, start with placing the inner sealing lip area of the bellow in-between areas of the drum before setting the clamping lip of the bellow onto the drum. Apply pressure with your fingers and hands at the exterior areas where the bellow is seated against the drum. It should also be emphasized that the screw clamp of the clamping wire be placed exactly between the opening provided on the bellow lip such that when tightened doesn't distort any the rubber flange of the bellows against the drum contact area. 

Replaced the bellow. Video was ‘right on”. I had to do it a second time because I did not center the arrow and the bottom drain holes were off to the side??.
