How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

I opened up the front of the dispenser and saw that the plastic fingers were broken. I bought the plastic frame. and two micro switches. I replaced the parts and now both work great.by following your video instructions. 

BOUGHT THE PART FROM YOU AND WATCHED THE VIDEO. IT WAS SIMPLE, AS USUAL, I'VE DONE OTHER REPAIRS USING YOUR COMPANY PARTS AND VIDEOS BEFORE. 

Replaced bracket. 

I thought this was going to be a major issue, until seeing the videos online from the Appliance Parts Pros. Established what the problem was within 5 mins. of removing some trim around the dispenser, ordered the recommended bracket and retainer lever. Both parts arrived within 48hrs and 10 mins later we have our filter water dispenser working again. Nice and Easy 

Researched problem on Appliancepartpros.com. The site reported that 50% of the time the problem was the bracket that holds the microswitches that control the water valve. Also found out that about 18% of the time was the problem was the microswitch. Ordered both the replacement bracket and a micro switch. Both parts cost less than $25. Shipping was less than $10. View videos showing how to replace the parts on YouTube. I was very pleased when I received the parts four days before expected. It turned out the bracket was the only part that was broken. The replacement part only took me about 20 minutes to repair. 

Followed the steps shown in the video.

At first I replace the ice auger motor. This did not fix the problem but the video from AppliancePartsPros was helpful if this had been the problem. Upon further inspection the pins that hold the switch for the ice lever had fatigued over many years and broke. Replacing the bracket fixed the problem. The instructional video to replace the bracket was very helpful. 

Watched video, bought the part, fixed frig 

Googled the problem and one of the first links was to appliance parts pros. The link took me to a replacement bracket and I watched the DIY video. After watching I took the frig panel off and saw that the bracket was in fact broken. Ordered the part and when it arrived a few days later I swapped it out as instructed in the video.
