How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

Thanks to the repair videos on this website I was able to determine the cause rather quickly. The video showed how to remove the front panel to access the micro switches that control the water and Ice dispensing. In the plastic bracket that held the switches, the pegs that held the ice micro switch were broken. I ordered a new bracket from this site to repair the problem. The video was very detailed in how to remove the bracket and install the new one. Repair time was less than half an hour. I was very satisfied with the price and the experience. 

Found the right part to replace the broken one. Used YouTube videos to learn disassembly steps. The new part works perfectly. Saved hundreds of dollars! 

I found the problem was the plastic bracket that housed the switches (on the front door of the freezer). I saw the video and realized it was a straightforward repair. I ordered the part. Took about 15 minutes to replace. All I needed was a putty knife to remove the outer dispenser cover. 

The water dispenser had stopped working for quite some time along with a broken ice door. Tackling the ice door, I saw that the micro switch turning the water dispenser was not securely fastened to the plastic housing. The switch still worked when pressed but the plastic legs and clips holding it in place were cracked. The replacement housing was easy to remove with only two screws. Swap the light housing and the micro switches and you are back in business. Their video makes it very clear.
