How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

It was immediately apparent that the plastic frame that holds ice and water supply micro switches needed replacement when the switch on the right side(water supply) fell out only held back by the electrical connectors after the trim panel was removed. Removed the panels two attaching screws, the light and all electrical connectors. Installed the new frame, reinstalled switches and spacers, the lamp and re made all electrical connections. Note, you must reconnect the trim panel if you want to test operation before completing reassembly. Nothing operates without that connection being made. 

I replaced the bracket. 

Went to your web site looked up the possible causes. Checked voltage at the solenoid when dispenser arm was pushed and found none. Ordered a replacement bracket, watched the install video and replaced the bracket when it arrived. 

Replaced the bracket that holds the switch for the ice dispenser. Followed the video and it was. an easy install. 

Contacted Appliance Parts Pros via chat to verify correct part. Ordered the part at 4:30pm and had it by noon the next day. I then watched the video to follow the steps to replace it. Quick and easy repair. 

I used the videos on Appliance parts pros and parts list to troubleshoot the problem and then ordered the right part. Took me 10-15 minutes to take it apart and replace. The repair video for the bracket was EXCELLENT - so easy to follow. I replaced the overflow grille too since mine was looking sad. $50 and 15 minutes - back in business. 

Watched the Video from AppliancePartsPros, ordered the part from them, and fixed it myself. They give excellent instructions on how to repair your appliances, and have fantastic prices. This was a fairly simple repair, but some mechanical skill would be helpful.
