How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6041528 / W11050804 Washplate Cap

Took out the agitator changed the coupler put it back together. 

Broke the old washplate into many pieces to get to splined pieces and could not get them separated. I used Dremmel cutoff wheel and cold chisel, finally come loose. I don't know if I should have or not, but I put a little plumbers silicone on the splines before reassembly 

Installed new Gear Case/Transmission, Drive Clutch, Drive Hub Kit, 6 drive hub kit screws, Shift Actuator, Washplate, wash plate bolt and drive belt. Second time in three years that the gear case shaft splines wore out. I’ve actually been babying the washer for the past year until it finally said no more than 5 days ago. 

Took it apart and put it back together. Helped by Dr. YouTube 

The teeth on the old washplate were completely gone after taking it off which took a while. After ordering the new one and it was in installed the washer worked like it was to new. 

I searched my symptoms online and found that it was common for the Hub to go out on my Maytag washing machine. So at first, I hired someone to fix it, that did not work out. So, I ordered the parts and had my machine back up and running perfectly in <1 hour. And it was affordable! The hardest part was getting the washer plate off, but found the online instructions easy to follow and this made it easier.
