How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6021414 / WPW10438751 Electronic Control Board

Ordered two parts. the first was the front cover and display, but that did not fix it. The second was the more expensive Electronic Control Board. That worked! Total of $500 spent, but still cheaper than a $2500 new double oven. 

I didn't pull the double oven out of the wall making it a little tighter to work on. Installation takes 5 minutes Disassembly takes a little longer. So it took me about 30 minutes start to finish. Suggestion.... always use your phone to take photos as you disassemble electric parts. Remembering wiring assemblies can be daunting. The parts were OEM. No adaption required. I've ordered for other appliances in the past and have been satisfied with prices and savings on labor. 

First replaced Control Panel Assembly only - ovens worked for about three weeks, then same error code. Next, replaced both Control Panel Assembly and Electronic Control Board. Success! Ovens have now been working great about two weeks. Important that "ribbon" on Control Panel Assembly is securely and correctly attached to Control Board. Wife is happy Easter dinner will go on as planned. *Important note:* In researching this issue on various sites, came to conclusion many people experienced this same problem after using "self-cleaning" feature (which I had done, too). Obviously, high heat and computer boards do not mix. Won't be using this feature ever again. 

Replaced ECB, remove the two screws on the outside bottom of side trim and remove side trim. Remove two small screws holding control panel. Carefully pull control panel forward to access four screws holding control board to control panel. Very carefully disconnect ribbon from control board by depressing side clips to release. Remove the four screws and move the control panel out of the way. The ribbon is permanently attached to control panel and may be brittle due to overheating, if broken you will need to replace the control panel also. Depress the keeper and slide the side electronic panel out of the ECB. Rotate ECB to access wires attached. It is now a simple unplug and remove and replace in reverse order 

First replaced the control module and the display worked again but then realized 3-4 of the buttons on the keypad didn't work. Was unable to program cavity size due to a couple of missing buttons. Had error codes E1 F2 and F5 E1. Since the keypad obviously had to be replaced, I ordered one and got it quickly. Installed yesterday and now everything works perfect. The F5 error code was due to some problem in the keypad - not the door latch. Thanks to APPros for prompt answers online and via phone, prompt shipping and generally a great attitude and friendly service. Glad I found you. 

We replaced the control board and it fixed the problem. Replacing took 30 minutes. The only issue was the difficulty pulling the 2 black connectors out from the board. You have to pull hard. There is no need to pull the oven out from the wall. Just remove the 2 screws on the side and gently pull out the control board. However, be careful to remove the ribbon connector or it will crack. Just push in the sides and lift gently. This saved us $2000!!! The part was here in one day! The warranty can't be beat. 

Disconnected the control panel after taking pictures and labeling the wires. Then I ordered a new control panel and connected it back. Turned back on the breaker and it was good to go! 

Replaced the board and hallejuah it worked. However, I must add that I received impeccable parts service and turn around time. 

I replaced the board. The old one was difficult to get out because some of the terminals were a bit stubborn. The new board went in fairly easily though. I made sure to mark and take pics of the wires so there was no confusion on where they went. I can't believe how much brighter the display on the new board is! When I moved in the lower trim was missing from the oven. The piece I ordered went right on and definitely looks much better. 

House call from repair person here,-told what the problem was and the cost estimate. Having ordered the front panel for this same oven(when it was very new) from you, decided to contact you.. Called and got part price from your company ordered and save a bunch of money. New part in place oven working again!! Thanks Question below re: installing part did not take into account those of us who have to rely on others. If I had done it would have been awful,-with someone who knew what they were doing it was a breeze.
