How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3873993 / 8201799 Compressor Start Device Kit

Order the part online, Great support by the way. Even a video that explained step by step. This fix took a grand total of 3 minutes, with the majority of that time moving the refrigerator away from the wall and removing the 4 screws on the back panel. Instructions were spot on. The shipping time was an incredible 17 hours from time of order to being in my hand. Simply follow what the video and instructions say. Appliance works perfectly. You folks have a customer for life. 

I ordered the Whirlpool kit that included all necessary parts (overload switch, relay, jumper, and cover) and replaced the old assembly that had failed. The video link associated with the part I ordered was very helpful. 

I watched the video from appliance pros was very helpful and confirmed my suspicion about the relay.Ordered the relay kit,replaced both parts that came with it and now my fridge is humming like new.The wife is happy also.I will buy again from appliancepros.com.Pople I e mail with were very polite.Thanks guys ?? 

Looking online, checking symptoms and all looks like my fridge. Order and received in two days, simple replacement and all works again. Cost me around $50, easy to replace, not even tools required except screwdriver to free back of fridge 

I used this part to fix the problem. About 100 bucks with shipping and tax. Beats trying to buy a new fridge. I have had the fridge for 21 years and this is the first time I've had a problem. The fridge is cooling and freezing like a champ. 

I have some knowledge and first thing I did was find and remove the start capacitor. I was able to have it checked out at the place where I planned to buy a new one. It checked out fine. At that point I googled for help and Appliance Parts Pros showed me that my refrigerator had a "start relay and overload protection" device and that these failing was the 2nd most common problem with this fridge.I ordered the repair kit with regular shipping and it arrived the next day. That fixed it. It took less time to fix it than it did to read the instructions. 

Got part off appliancepartspros. Great price and service. Got here faster than what I could have went to the store and got it and was a lot cheaper.. 

Replaced the compressor starter 

First I looked up a video to see what the problem could be and why the refrigerator wouldn’t cool. After watching a few I pulled the back off the refrigerator and removed the start relay and shook it to see if it rattled, which it did. I went on the internet to find replacement parts and was directed to your site. I order the parts and replaced the old ones and that’s all there was to it. Hopefully, I can get another 20 years out it. This is my garage refrigerator. Awesome that’s for your site which made it all so easy. 

Placed a call to my local repair tech and was informed he no longer repaired refrigerators. I explained the symptoms and he informed me about compressor relays failing.Ordered the Compressor Start Device kit that included the relay, two versions of the compressor overload, wire jumper and cover. Although I could not get the cover to fit I was able to match the part number of the overload to use the correct one (they look the same). Success! Refrigerator & freezer are running flawlessly and cooling down to temp.
