How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6017795 / WPW10250015 Control Panel (Blk)

We 1st ordered control board, but did not fix it. My husband ordered control panel with part number AP6017795 and it fixed it. Dishwasher is a Kitchen Aid and stainless in side. Hated to replace it as it’s so nice. $153 total compared to $700 to 800 to buy new, remove old and replace new at 82 of age. 

Ran diagnostic test outlined in KitchenAid troubleshooting guide and diagnosed the problem as faulty control panel, not the control board as I originally believed. I found the appropriate part on appliancepartspro.com. I ordered the part and received it in two.days. Removed the old panel and replaced it with the new part in about 20 minutes. It was an identical match to the original and worked perfectly. 

Replaced control panel 

After researching problem on internet, it pointed to control panel failure. Replaced control panel and is working great. I watched video on replacing control panel. It looked simple enough, and it was Very easy. 

After reviewing the AppliancePartsPros.com video, I had it changed out in less than two minutes. Super easy repair. The dishwasher purrs like a kitten like it used to. 

Removed the front panel and inspected the plastic parts. Finding some broken pieces from the handle and the F panel it attaches to, I tried gluing them back in place. Given the S-glue's lack of adhesion (except on my fingers) and the stress placed on these parts, I searched for parts. Most sources were out of stock, but APP had a number in stock and offered the best price, to the point that I opted for overnight shipping, which I never do. The entire process not only cost 1/3 of a comparable replacement to this 4 yr. old DW, but took less time than the R&R would have. 

I researched online for posts of similar problems and found a link to Appliance Parts Pros for the part and a video of the repair. Ordered the part, replaced it and the dishwasher is back up and running. I went from thinking of be spending $1000 to get a new dishwasher to spending less than $300 and fixed it myself. 

Ordered a new panel from appliance parts pros. It came in in a timely manner considering it was right here at Christmas, everything was plug and play and dishwasher was up and running again! Thank you! 

First I watched several repair videos on YouTube for this dishwasher [DW] and read some repair forums. [Note: other similar KitchenAid and Whirlpool models operate similarly]. My problem was a stuck closed membrane switch [button] the front Control Panel [CP]. When pressing "Start/Resume" the Electronic Control Board [ECB] wouldn't run wash but instead just flashed the LEDs. A double-check is to [1] Unplug the DW [2] access the ECB in the door [3] partially lift out the ECB [4] disconnect the CP multicolored ribbon cable [5] replace the ECB [5] Put everything lightly back together [] close the door, and [] plugin the DW. If you have a [probably] good ECB, it detects that there is no CP connected and simply runs a "Drain" cycle, then stops, [approx 2 minutes]. This is a fairly strong indicator that the ECB is good but the CP has a stuck "closed" button. [The ECB cannot detect a stuck "open" button because that is the normal state. But also, a "stuck open" button is very unlikely.] We also cleaned out the Filter Assembly, Sump Housing, Chopper Cover, and Chopper. This is worth doing too at this time but is a bigger and more awkward job than simply replacing the CP. You'll need Torx screwdriver bits to do this job. Good Luck!
