Charles L Concord , MA November 01, 2014 Control board shorted out during drying cycle with a series of loud popping noises creating a blackened corner of the dishwasher door a pungent electircal fire smell and tripped circuit breaker Replaced the control board after removing the inner door liner, plastice board cover and board itself, by removing screws, working various plastic clips/tabs and unclipping wire harnesses from board. most of time was spent cleaning the black soot from the door, which had a terrible burnt electrical/plastic fire smell. Cleaned mold/scale off of as much of the door as I could while in there as well. Removing parts without breaking plastic tabs to hold the new parts was trickiest part. Robert P Homer Glen , IL October 19, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Dishwasher MDB7100AWW Dish washer would not start I'm 63 years old and like to fix things on my own when possible. Followed all tips on web page. Used a piece of duck tape to hold outer side of door up while working on inside of door where board is located. Took picture of wiring with phone camera. Had to use plyers on one stubborn plug. Numbed plugs 1 through 6 with marker pen just to be double sure when replugging in to new board. Dish washer working again. Romando L San Francisco , CA January 23, 2023 Appliance: Maytag Dishwasher MDB7100AWW No panel lights and dishwasher would not operate. I went to run the dishwasher but it did not start and there were no panel lights. I checked and confirmed the circuit breaker had not tripped. I unplugged the power cord and removed the interior door panel to see if I could determine the problem. Note, when you remove the cover panel, the door will not stay open as there is less weight on it, so it is necessary to put something to keep it down. I used a small 1 lb plastic-coated dumbbell. I noted an electrical smell and saw some discoloration on a part of the control board. I carefully unplugged all the connectors, taking pictures before so I could tell where they went, but they are pretty easy to figure out. I then removed several screws holding the board and pried the tabs holding it in place. The back of the board clearly has a section shorted out and needed to be replaced. AppliancePartsPros.com. has the best price and I ordered a new Control Board Assembly. It arrived within a couple of days. I put it back carefully, reconnected all the plugs and closed and screwed in the door panel. Plugged the power cord, and ran a rinse cycle to check the function. Everything worked again. Yay.
