Arlene for Model Number MDB7100AWB Maytag

My dishwasher did not drain at all & I couldn't change any settings yesterday. I turned off the breaker overnight & tried it today. It only did the complete cycle including drain on the 'rinse only' cycle. It will occasionally begin the 'normal' or 'light' wash cycles but either stops right away & makes a couple of sounds or else fills but stops part way through the wash and refuses to drain. When it quits it gives a soft clicking sound and the panel led lights flicker until I use the stop button or cut the power. Only the 'rinse only' cycle works right. Am I correct in thinking the control panel is faulty? The front cover panel it fits behind looks intact. What part number would I need?

Hello Arlene, This actually sounds like you could have a poor electrical connection causing a high current condition, breaking down the circuit and shutting down. Turn off power to the unit and remove the kick panel and the metal box labeled electrical connection and make sure none of the wire nuts have melted. If this checks out ok, open the door panel to access the control board and look for any signs of moisture. If you do find moisture, you will need to replace the seal around the vent. If no moisture, remove and reconnect the wiring to the board, looking inside each for any signs of discoloration. If nothing is found, the control board 12001718 has probably failed. Since the board is no longer available, you will have to do an online search for a company like corecentrics that rebuilds boards for an estimate on rebuilding the board.

Hello Tracy. Check the power coming to the unit. If it is good, and the lights dim, you will need to replace the control board in the unit.

We have the American style Whirlpool fridge/freezer, which has two PCBs. One in front and one in back. The front ones part No. Is 48124553888051 and the rear PCB part No. Is 481221778213. Could you advise which one controls the defrost function. I have replaced the freezer thermostat and also the heating element but the unit does not defrost itself, so I have to manually defrost it every 2 weeks. If I can identify which unit controls the defrost function then I can either replace the PCB or better still replace the defective electrical component?

My dishwasher simply quit. The door switchs had good continuity, so I looked at the control board and found two large components, in series, that got hot enough to blacken/burn the board, I am sure they are not making continuity in there solder joints. I fear that if I simply put in a new control board the same thing will happen again. What could have caused this, and how do I check everything to make sure a new control will fix the problem? Better yet, what are these two components, could I simply replace them - the runs on the board are fine.

Ole Ray, You're on the right track, but The resistors in the motor circuit and the heater circuit on the control board, have a tendency to discolor and blacken, but the unit will operate. You need to check and make sure you have 110 VAC across the double black and double white wires at the control board with the door switches activated. if you have the voltage, you'll need a new control board, no voltage would be a bad door switch or wiring issue. Here's some meter usage information should you need it [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html] Good Luck and Thanks
