How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6285040 / W11164593 Air Diffuser

Ordered replacement diffuser; waited for replacement diffuser to arrive; removed diffuser from packaging; removed one hex head screw; pulled off plastic cover; pressed down locking tab lever on electrical connector then pulled connector apart; removed bad diffuser; inserted new diffuser; inserted electrical connector and made sure locking tab latched; positioned wires and electrical connector assembly; inserted hex head screw back into hole in cover maintaining pressure with nut driver so screw does not fall out; re-inserted plastic cover aligning screw in hole then tightening screw into hole; press cover firmly against side of interior; tighten screw finger tight (do NOT overtighten as you are screwing into plastic); 

Replaced diffuser. 

Found a video of the problem on YouTube. Went to AppliancePartsPros.com and ordered a replacement part. Received the Air Diffuser promptly. Fast shipping. 

Replace the diffuser.

Removed old air diffuser and installed a new air diffuser. Very easy to replace, requires a 1/4" socket with a socket extension to remove one single screw at the front of the air diffuser. Once the screw is removed the cover can be removed by tilting the top edge down and then pulling gently forward. Be careful when pulling forward my old air diffuser wires were caught a little on the cover. Next, disconnect the electrical connections by pulling them apart. There is a tab that needed to be lifted a little on the connector to unlock the refrigerator connector. Then pull the old air diffuser out of the side of the inside wall. Install the new air diffuser back into the same place the old air diffuser came out, connect the wires using the connectors, and replace the cover.
