How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4008534 / 12001541 Dryer Drum Support Roller

Just like the video showed. Took my time, took pictures of the disassembly with my camera and got it back together no problem. My dryer runs like new! 

I searched youtube and found a possible cause to be the rollers. I ordered the parts from AppliancePartsPros and followed the well laid out procedure and fixed the problem. Youtube and AppliancePartsPros are awesome! 

Replaced the drum support roller. Since the dryer was older and I had it opened up, I replaced the drum belt. What took a little bit of extra time was vacuuming everything. The repair video was terrific. 

Watched a Youtube video on how to take my 15 year old Maytag Neptune dryer apart. Found the belt tension pulley badly worn and squeaking. Decided to also replace the drum support roller while I had it all taken apart. Replaced pulley and rollers and used graphite to lube all three. Worked perfectly. 

Knowing that several things could be causing the noise, I ordered parts to cover all possibilities; once I got inside the dryer, I found the Idler Arm and Idler Pulley were worn and loose; replaced them and the Tumbler Bearings; the dryer now runs quiet again. Was going to replace the Drive Belt but believe it to be the wrong model, it was narrower and had 4 ribs whereas the old one seems to be OK and I believe has 5 ribs. The Drum Rollers and Shafts were OK Also replaced the Door Latch. 

Our Maytag gas clothes dryer was not drying like it should/used to and was making a lot of noise. After researching online I figured the vent was partially blocked and/or the blower wheel was bad. When I took it apart, the vent had very little lint in the lower elbow exiting the back of the dryer but the blower wheel was loose on the shaft and was missing the clamp. I cleaned out the vent and put a hose clamp on the blower wheel to tighten it to the shaft and tried it again. The noise was gone, but it still didn't dry. I purchased and installed a gas valve coil kit and a cycling thermostat and the dryer is working like new again!!! I am so glad that I found this website with great info and a great selection of products at great prices. 

I utilized the video that was on your website. Without that, I would have called a repairman which would have cost a few more dollars... 

I replaced the motor and all other moving components along with the felt drum seals.drum glides and drive belt. The wiring instruction is where i had the most problems. Because my wiring had only 4 wires in the harness not 5, and one was a different color then the instructions call out, I believe was because it might have been and older model. the instruction called for a gray wire but mine was white with a blue piggy back wire attached. but after finding a few videos on line i figured that the white wire was indeed the gray wire and the piggy back wire was the 5th wire meant to be attached to the blue terminal. 

Ordered rollers, bearing, felt seals, axles, clips and belt. Watched repair videos on Youtube and fixed it in about 3 hours. TOok long cause I cleaned out the inside and the piping through the wall to insure all the lint was out of the pipes and dryer. 

Watched the video on Appliance pros website and replaced the drum support rollers. It was a snap. The video told it like it was so there were no surprises. Thanks!
