How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4096820 / 74004105 Bake Element

Replaced element. Used a string to keep the wires from sliding back into the stove.

Put a new element in. 

Cut breaker off. Easy installment with 18 inch screwdriver. Easy if you take six screws on the back to slide connector wires to the element. Maybe 20 minutes to connect. 

My lady friend came over on Saturday to help hold the wire and clips to prevent them from falling back into the rear of the oven. We unhooked the contacts and attached the new heating unit. Tried the oven function and found it to be back up and working. Total time to do the project was 15 minutes. Thank you for your very informative video. Geraldine H. 

Looked up the correct part, order, and received it in a timely manner. Removed burnt out element, replaced with a new element. Instead of completely following your video directions, I pulled the stove out after shutting off the power, removed the six screws to the access plate, and removed the cover. Provided easy access to to the element wiring, Disconnected wiring removed old element, installed new and reconnected wiring. Replace access cover in reverse order. Project time to complete the job 20 minutes at a leisurely pace. Difficulty in the job I would give a 2, just because you have to pull the stove out and also reach into the back of the oven to remove the two screws holding the element in place. 

Ordered parts from AppliancePartPros.com and swapped the old elements for the new ones.

It took me approximately 25 minutes to perform this repair. It was really easy with the video repair help that I watched from this site. I had to re drill 2 holes for the holding bracket to the roof of the upper range because the old holes were not holding the screws any longer, but overall I am very happy with the easiness of this repair and will use this site again. 

Replaced the bake element. The element died Tuesday evening, I found your company online Wednesday. Ordered my part, was notified within an hour that it had shipped. We received the part on Thursday (next day), my son replaced the element in seven minutes (we know this because we had to reset the clock??), and I was back to baking!
