How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011322 / WP7406P428-60 Lower Bake Element

The element burned almost in two. Ordered part from Appliance Parts Pros. Received part in record time. Part is very simple to replace with only two screws holding it in place. 

I ordered a new bake element and my husband installed it. My oven now heats up perfectly!! 

I actually watched the lower heating element flame out. I was baking muffins for my office staff and went to check on preheating progress when I spotted the bright orange glow that transitioned to a flame. The problem was self-evident. As luck and, I assume, good planning, worked out AppliancePartsPro.com shipped from Denver (about 90 miles away) the same day. FedEx even delivered one day early! The repair is a very simple remove and replace only complicated by the fact that Jenn-Air/Whirlpool connects this burner with very short wires. I'm assuming they assemble from the back and forgot that consumers may need to replace this part. It is mentioned in the DIY video and bears emphasis; don't allow the wires to pull back into the rear oven wall. The wires will try to retract. Find a couple allegator clips or hemostats or similar to clamp the wires to jeep them accessible. 

Did not need to pull the oven away from the wall. The entire repair was completed from the front of the oven. Turned off the circuit breaker. Removed 2 screws securing the existing heating element and pulled it out an inch or so to expose wire terminals. Removed 2 wire terminals (needed small needle nose pliers). Inserted wire terminals onto new heating element (again needed small needle nose pliers). Reinstalled 2 screws securing the heating element. Turned on the breaker and tested the oven, with success.
