Its a non sevicable filter, so the only fix is to replace the whole part. You could try to modify one that you could open and empty the trapped food, but my original filter lasted ten years, so $60. every decade seems reasonable. I found this part on appliancepartspros and it was the most affordable around. It also shipped in 1 day, which was impressive. I replaced the old part and now my machine is working perfectly.
