How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3134638 / 279457 Heating Element Connecting Wire

Ordered heating element, thermal cut off kit, thermal fuse, and moisture sensors. This is my 3rd time fixing my Whirlpool Duet Dryer and I was not going to worry about which parts to order. I work out of town and only get home twice a month, so I wanted parts available when I arrived. Installed in about an hour and a half, now dryer is working like new. I would suggest that anyone with a Duet remove bottom cover and clean out excess lint at least yearly to prevent premature failure of parts. 

Replace all parts and it works.

I replaced the thermal cutoff kit and a heating element connection wire. Super simple and probably saved me over $100 if I had called a repairman. The videos on your site as well as the customer service person I spoke with were SUPER helpful. Thank you!!! 

Heating element 

With your easy to answer troubleshooting help I was able to determine that it was in fact the heating element. I ordered the one for my model along with the connecting wire and bam! It is actually hotter than before!!!! Opened the door during the cycle and steam rolled out..... Thank you!!! 

I followed the instructions from the videos provided by you all. I am not positive however, that the replacement parts were the issue. When I disconnected the the vent tube I was surprised to fins a beautiful nest with three tiny bird eggs in it. In order to build the nest the birds put a tremendous amount of twigs and such, so much so that I found twigs all the way to the dryer itself. I feel much better about having removed a potential fire hazard but the nest I'm afraid, is gone. I did change out the parts and my dryer is working as it used to. Thanks for the very helpful videos. I took the back panel off my dryer and then undid the old element and put on the new one. I spliced the old wire and replaced it as well. 

Reviewed how to do the job on your videos and the job went well. No problems! Allowed time for glue to dry! 

Ordered a new heating element and installed with help from the repair video. Received the part in 1 day. This is the same great service I had on previous projects.
