How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014056 / WP9760574 Oven Door Hinge (Stl)

Replace the Hinge 

Used the ordered parts and followed instructions online. Easy! 

Replaced both hinges. Went quick and easy until I noticed the door handle was a little loose and decided to tighten it, not noticing it was squeezing the glass.... you guessed it, broke the glass. Now waiting for that part. My fault. 

I bought replacement hinges for both sides. The online instructions supplied by appliance parts pros was extremely helpful. Shipping was incredibly fast. What they don’t tell you is the screw holes in the new hinges are not yet tapped for screws. What looks easy other video was actually very difficult. You will need a lot of force, patience and a high-quality Phillips screwdriver to complete this project. The new hinges are great. 

Looked up the repair on youtube. 

Repair was made exceptionally easy given the video aid from AppliancePartsPros. Over the years I have purchased several repair parts from here and have always had a good experience. 

Replaced hinges, since they seemed weak in comparison to top oven, but didn’t resolve the problem. Turns out the issue was that the door had been hyperextended due to someone using it as a step or shelf. The hinge receivers in the frame, which require significantly more disassbly to get to, but still doable, had been bent slightly out of shape. Just a little bend in the hinge receiver is amplified at the top of the door by the springs in the hinges not having enough strength to close the door tightly, since it is beyond it’s normal limit. If in the fully open position your door opens beyond 90 degrees this is the culprit. After removing the hinge receivers I bent them back into their proper shape using a vise and some channel locks. Reassembled and everything works perfectly now. 

Replaced the hinges. 

I replaced both the left and right hindges off top oven door. 

Ordered two hinges, shipment came almost overnight. It took Larry about 15 minutes to put the two new hinges on & the door went right back on. Did I mention before the new ones Larry fought over an hour trying to get the door back on? Love the replacement store, fast service & great instructions.
