How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6888159 / W11366249 Hose

Ordered New hose. Replaced. 

First, make sure you unplug the machine. Drain all the water out thru the pump housing. There's not much room under there, so, it can be difficult to get to the clamps. Make sure you have a pair of hose clamp pliers, especially for the big clamp. You should purchase a different ring for the large end of hose, because the original type is a real pain to get back on. I'd suggest the kind that you tighten with a screw or nut driver. Remove the white ball from the original hose and install it in the new one. Place the zip tie on the outlet that connects to the sensor, making sure you reuse the foam padding. Do not pull tight until you get the sensor back in to the hose. Place clamps on the other outlets - don't tighten until up get the hose connected. Once you get the clamps in place and tighten, plug machine in a test for leaks. Nothing to it! Takes about 15 minutes. 

Replace drain hose, it was easy. three simple connections, I was done in 20 minutes. The replacement hose fit perfectly. I looked at the leaking hose and found a toothpick in it which had punctured it. 

Replaced hose, (buy worm clamps/adjustable clamps), it will make the job a 5-10 min job max. You will need 2 small clamps and 1 lg clamp to replace the garbage stock ones. Also while your there, clean out the pump unit. I found 1 quarter, 1 dime, 2 pennies, and a few bobby-pins from the lady. Ps, dont forget to reinstall the electrical connector to the pump :) 

I replaced the pump and the tank to pump boot as well since the unit is 10 years old and it was easier to get to the boot with the pump out anyway. The new parts fit exactly as the old ones did so it was a simple exchange of parts. Both repairs were finished within an hour. The washer works perfectly now. 

Ordered the part and gave it to my husband to fix. Super easy. 

I did it myself. I watched a video first, then replaced it. Now all is working great again. 

I followed the nice video provided by AppliancePartsPros. The procedure went smoothly until trying to attach the new hose to the base of the washer tub. This involves a large spring-loaded hose clamp. You need quite a large channel lock to grip this clamp--probably at least a 3" (a 2" is too small). Instead of placing the clamp on the hose and trying to fit both on the tub, I found putting the clamp on the tub flange first then sliding the hose lip under the clamp to be more effective. This is very awkward. The necessary large channel lock wrench was difficult to maneuver in the tight space of the washer (the video makes it look easy because the side of the washer has been removed). I found it required two people. One to hold the clamp open with the channel lock and one to manipulate the hose.
