How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3177342 / 8201515 Icemaker Motor Module

Ordered all moving parts, received them quickly and rebuilt ice maker. Installed ice maker and within 8 hours it was making ice. 

I ORDERED THE MDULE ON A THURSDAY EVENING AT 3:35 PM. AT 8:30 AM ON FRIDAY MORNING UPS DELIVERED THE PARTS TO MY DOOR! BY 11;00 AM MY ICE MAKER WAS PRODUCING ICE ONCE AGAIN. A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE ALL THE WAY THROUGH. 

Ordered the ice maker kit. Easy installation. Instructions said to use all the new parts that came with the kit.. But I was only able to use the new motor due to how my ice maker was set up. Works like new now. 

KitchenAid KFIS25XVMS2 The symptoms of my ice-maker were very similar to some found here. Ultimately, I decided to replace the motor module and thermostat as per the videos associated with the products. While the videos did not show my exact model, the ice-makers were near-identical. The repair was pretty straight forward and now we have ice once again. 

Viewed ur site, ordered the part, replaced it and all is god to go. No more problem. 

Sears repair guy comes and says the refrigerator is nine years old and we should simply get a new refrigerator. He even suggest we go to Lowe's rather then Sears. I found this amazing website. The part came in two days, the video was perfect, and the icemaker was fixed in 10 minutes for $85 which included shipping. I certainly wasted my money on the loser from Sears. 

I originally ordered the icemaker motor module as it is supposed to fix the issue of it not making ice. After I got it taken apart I noticed that there was a burnt contact. After looking at it more I feel the burnt contact was due to the coating was missing in some areas of the tray. This probably made the ice stick and made the motor work harder. I decided not to use the kit and instead ordered the complete unit. It now works great and is making tons of ice. 

Research told me it was likely one or two problems so I ordered both parts. I installed the new water inlet valve and now it’s making ice again like a champ. I may return the other part or keep it since I’ve had nothing but issues with this refrigerator in 5 years. Our last refrigerator was problem free for 23 years, all I had to do is change the lightbulb. This one, from day one issues with the doors not closing properly, interior lights were a problem and now the ice maker… Kind of afraid to ask what’s next?? Quality part and fast shipping! 

Replaced the bad one. 

I replaced the motor, following the instructions in the video on appliancepartspro.com. Our refrigerator is a different model than the one in the video, and is oriented back to front rather than side to side, but I was generally able to follow the directions. The only issue I ran into was that the collection cup in the new kit wouldn't work with our model, even with the adjustment noted in the video. I ended up keeping the old cup in place. Shortly after I finished my repair, I heard the sweet sound of fresh ice!
