How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6030643 / W10884390 Icemaker

Researched and found out it could be the thermostat in the icemaker, but decided just to replace the whole ice maker. The only thing that made it difficult was that our appliance is a bottom freezer and not being able to remove to freezer drawers made the ice maker difficult to reach and almost impossible to see, so the repair took a little longer than I thought. 

Did some assessment and pinpointed the problem to the ice maker. Replaced it. 

Had Tito's Appliance Repairs out to diagnose the problem with the icemaker which determined that the icemaker needed to be replaced. Tito gave me the part # to order from AppliancePartsPros.com. When the part arrived about 30 days later, I contacted Tito's and they came out the next day and installed the new ice maker. 

Replaced solenoid valve and ice maker. 

Replaced both parts. 

My original ice maker had three or four parts that were damaged and combined, the cost of the parts was about the same as a new ice maker, so I bought a new ice maker. The new ice maker I ordered and received from AppliancePartsPros.com was an exact match to the original. It took about 30 minutes to remove the old ice maker and install the new one. I replaced the non-functioning icemaker with a new one. 

Put the Ice Maker in myself, took about 15 minutes, easy fix and the price was right! 

Purchased a new icemaker and replaced it in about 20 to 30 minutes. Removed the freezer door and two trays to gain access to the ice maker. Removed one screw, loosened two screws, disconnected the wiring harness, and removed the old icemaker. Installed the new icemaker and replaced the trays and freezer door. New Icemaker began to fill within about 15 minutes. The actual hardest part was determining how to remove the top rolling tray. 

Replaced the ice maker. This is a lower freezer model, so it was easier remove the top drawer and the door that holds the bottom drawer before attempting the ice maker repair. These two drawers were easily removed but you may want to look at a video on their removal before you start. Once the drawers were out of the way the ice maker replacement was a very easy task.
