Dennis B Reno , NV October 10, 2014 The icemaker stopped making ice I replaced the icemaker. It was fairly easy, with the most difficult part being access to the icemaker in the bottom freezer. I loosened two screws, removed one additional screw, disconnected the wiring and removed the old icemaker. I mounted the wiring harness and ice level sensor arm from the old unit onto the new icemaker and installed it with no problems. I wish I'd done this months ago instead of repeatedly attempting to repair the old icemaker. Tom J East Greenwich , RI August 31, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MBF2258XEW3 Ice maker stopped working A bit of online research and some component testing narrowed my issue down to either a faulty ice maker or a bad supply valve. Appliance Parts Pros had both of these, at reasonable prices, so I purchased and replaced both items. I recommend watching online videos to get a sense of what to do, and how to go about doing it. The repairs were relatively easy, other than this being a bottom freezer model hence the ice maker was difficult to access: I removed the freezer door (four screws) to get closer, but never did figure out the slide-out shelf/basket component removal. I wish I had a magnetized nut driver for all the times I dropped the ice maker screws! At least the water valve was an easy swap. Lily S Newark , CA April 26, 2014 Ice maker in freezer burned out Ordered the part from appliance parts pro using refrigerator make and model. Found the best price here. The part came within a few days, replaced the part using YouTube, believe it or not. Freezer is making ice again as I'm writing this review. I believe we saved hundreds of dollars doing it ourselves! What took so long to fix was the fact we had to remove the freezer drawer to gain better access to replace the part. Mark D Ramona , CA July 11, 2016 Refer not making ice Replaced ice maker assembly. The assembly included the module portion of the ice maker. The module had burned at the contact for the heater element. The element tested good. The new assembly also came with the heater element. Amazingly the module by itself priced at $90.00 the assembly priced out at $40.00. I ordered another assembly for a future repair as this issue is a common problem with my refer. The refer is only 3 years old. Kitchen Aid. Read More... 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
