How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010985 / WP74007399 Bake Igniter (Gas Oven)

Replaced igniter with new one from AppliancePartsPros.com. The repair was easy following the video from their website. A few things were a little different but was able to figure it out. Also was warned that there might be wire nuts instead of a connector. Which there was but just cut and stripped the wire. Oven is like new again. 

Our 20-year-old Maytag Gemini gas oven broke the Monday before Thanksgiving. We had 25 people depending on us for dinner! I went online and googled the issue and AppliancePartsPros.com had a video and the part in stock. I placed an order at 9 pm Monday for two potential parts. I request Fedex overnight for Wednesday morning. The two parts arrived at 11:59. I was planning on baking Wednesday night. Replaced the igniter 

I swapped igniters from the upper oven to the lower, and it worked like a champ. So, I ordered a new igniter and installed it in no time. Thanks to quick mailing by Appliance Parts Pros, I had my part in 1 business day, even selecting the cheapest shipping method. 

I removed and replaced the ignitor. 

Checked the temperature sensor after chatting with a APP pro and determined the sensor was fine. Was told it must be the control board. Did a little more research on the internet to find out it was the ignitor after all. Sure glad I didn't follow the recommendation by the APP pro I chatted with to replace the $687.00 control board . A new $52 ignitor, 10 minutes and the oven is running like new. Finding out what was causing the problem took much than replacing the ignitoronce it arrived. 

I watched the video on APP on how to troubleshoot the problem, I then looked up the part on the website. Ordered the part which came in a couple days. Installed in about 10 min and the oven was working again. Great company to buy parts from. 

Replaced the bottom Ignitor Bake. I've never performed this type of repair before and it only took 10 mins. I am not very savvy when it comes to fixing anything (especially appliances), but this ended up being a simple repair. Only difficult things was getting a couple of the screws off (they were a bit rusted/corroded). Followed the instruction video on appliancepartspros.com. Very pleased with appliancepartspros.com, ordered the item and it arrived next day. 

Installed gas valve took approx. 10 min. works great. 

I found Appliance Parts Pros online. They had a helpful blog diagnosing the problem and a video explaining how to replace the Ignitor. The directions were very detailed and within an hour, I had replaced the Bake Ignitor and fixed my oven. The entire process was extremely easy Thanks to Appliance Parts Pros.
