Mark A Chula Vista , CA April 27, 2014 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer - Direct Drive GHW9100LW1 I have on older whirlpool duet the plastic tab behind the hold to start button had snapped due to age of the plastic making it brittle I watched your video about replacing the user interface. I followed it exactly and the fix was very simple. Only issue was that due to the age of the plastic, some of the tabs on the user interface snapped when detaching it from the face panel. (sorry, poor nomenclature don't remember the correct name for the front panel/bezel). No big deal since I was replacing the user interface anyway. Important note for others: watch the video, but since it is applicable to multiple models don't just order the part at the link. Get your model and verify the part number prior to ordering. Fortunately, that's what I did. Read More... 12 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set

Robert E Omaha , NE January 28, 2017 Hold to start tab was broken on interface assembly I determined that the start tab was broken on the Interface Assembly by drilling a large hole in the Hold to Start button making it necessary to replace it as well. After watching the YouTube video on replacing the Interface Assembly a couple of times to familiarize myself with the procedure and feeling comfortable that I could do the job, I ordered the parts. The Control Knob was previously broken and needed to be replaced so I ordered the Control Knob, the Hold to Start button and the Interface Assembly. Our Duet gas dryer is stacked on top of the washing machine and it took longer to unhook the dryer gas line and get the dryer off of the washing machine than it did to complete the washing machine repair. I completed the repair and had everything put back together and the dryer stacked on top of the washing machine in about 45 minutes. The instructional video on YouTube was very informative and made the repair easy. I did break some of the the locking tabs off the old Interface Assembly due to them being brittle but didn't care as it was being replaced anyway. The repair was not difficult and I'm confident I saved $200-$300 by doing it myself, especially since the dryer had to be taken off the top of the washing machine. Time means $$$ plus the cost of a service call and mark-up on the parts. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Adjustable Wrench, Screwdrivers

Steve P Glen Allen , VA July 04, 2015 Button broke off front of washer Watched video on line, which was very helpful in getting me to try this. The old circuit board was fine but the plastic holding it and the push buttons had become very brittle and started breaking. Just followed the example video and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to replace this part. Washer now works great. Read More...
