How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6017669 / WPW10245167 Water Inlet Valve

Replaced the inlet valve located at the bottom of the back side of the unit on the right side (looking at the back of the fridge). A few screws (12) to remove the cardboard cover and metal grate over the fan, two screws to remove the valve, removed three hoses/three wires and replaced these on the new valve. Left back uncovered for 15 minutes to assure no leakage. Replaced cardboard and metal vent covers. Job done. @$65 for the part with shipping. 

I changed the water valve in about 10 to 15 minutes an everything seems to be working fine so far. 

Replaced very old, dual water inlet valve.

I ordered a water inlet valve for the Amana refrigerator and changed out the valve also the fill tube for the ice maker was frozen shut. Thawed out and cleared reinstalled and insured it had a gentle slope with no flat spot for ice to build again and all is working very well. One note the compatibility chart indicated this valve would not fit my refrigerator but the model numbers were all the same as the old valve so I ordered and installed perfectly. 

Replaced the water inlet valve in the back of the fridge.

Replaced the inlet valve 

Ordered part 9116903. It was a perfect fit. Done in just over an hour. Cleaned the brass orifice fitting with CLR as I was installing the new valve set. No leaks. 

Bought Ice Maker, and water valve. 1/2 hour to fix. Now great ice, like new.
