Ginny P August 14, 2017 for Model Number Amana refrig SQD25NBL Asked a question about the icemaker water inlet valve a bit ago (30 minutes or so). Have another question: could the inside of this valve also be flaking away and leaving black specs on the ice? Thank you!
1 Answer Ginny, Check the ice mold to make sure that the coating is not coming off the icemaker as this would be the most likely cause for black specks. Read More...
Ginny Pressly August 14, 2017 for Model Number SQD25NBL - in use since beginning of 1994 (WOW!) Just want to make sure replacing the water inlet valve is likely to fix our problem. Most people seem to be having a problem with not enough water getting to the ice maker - no ice, small ice, etc. We're a little on the other side. When the bin is full, thus ice isn't being made regularly, water seems to seep into the line to the ice maker, and it ultimately freezes up. Have to take the last piece of hose to the ice maker off, and even take a hair-dryer to the pipe it attaches to to get the ice out. (Very annoying!) Another thing that has happened recently, it seems like the ice cube on the right might get filled more than it should and it has trouble kicking out. The ice maker clicks until you help this piece get out, then all is well for a while. (This doesn't happen every fill.) So, likely water inlet valve??? (Just water is working fine.) Thanks!
1 Answer Ginny, This issue will most likely be caused by a water valve that is not fully closing and would need to have the valve to be replaced. Read More...
Sheryl June 10, 2015 for Model Number SQD22NBW I was getting hollow ice cubes and in doing research was told I needed to replace the ice maker. I did that. I got one batch of ice out of the new ice maker now nothing. It does cycle, I have opened the freezer door to find it "dumping" but watched and listened for the water to fill up and it didn't. I get water at the door no problem. Did I get a bad ice maker or do I now need a water valve?
1 Answer Hello Sheryl, The icemaker cannot cause hollow cubes. An insufficient water fill is the only thing that will cause this phenomenon. This is caused by low water pressure to the machine or a failing water valve WPW10245167. Read More...
Roger April 08, 2014 My water dispenser is not working although the ice dispenser does. I changed the water in- let valve and the water is flowing to bottom of the door. Removed the inside panel of the freezer door and there is air flow from the hose at bottom of door to the dispenser. After putting back together it works for a few hours and stops. Is the line freezing up and if so is there a way to prevent it? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Roger. It sounds like it is . Try thawing and then turn down the temp in the freezer where it is around 0. Sounds like it may be to cold. Read More...
Dennis February 25, 2013 for Model Number srd22s5 I have water at the water dispenser but not at the ice maker. I ohms tested the fill valve and only got a slight movement in the needle. (around 0.2). We have moved from city water to a well. When first installed it worked fine. Been around 2 months since we hooked up. Water pressure is around 45 psi. The tube at the top of the refer pops out of the angle fitting that goes to the inside of the refer.
1 Answer Hello Dennis, The water line popping out from the top fitting is the indication that the water valve WPW10245167 is either bad or insufficient water pressure is being delivered to the water valve. You should make sure the water line isn't crimped and that the water pressure at the valve is sufficient. Since the water valve is closed only by water pressure, the water line should not be connected to the home water supply with a self-tapping saddle valve. These clog with sedimentation and mineral deposits too readily and cause constant complaints. If this is the method that has been used, the valve can be slid aside and the pierced hole in the water line drilled out to a 1/4 inch opening. The fill tube in the freezer will have to be thawed out with a hair dryer. This only takes about 15 minutes but will be necessary along with the valve replacement to restore normal operation. Kevin September 17, 2012 for Model Number SXD25QA3W I get water to the in door water dispenser and it works fine. I'm not getting any water to the top inlet on the refrigerator to the ice maker. When I disconnect the hose, it's not getting any water.
1 Answer Hello Kevin. Based on the information you provided, you will need to replace the water valve WPW10245167 on the unit. Read More...
Barbara S. July 15, 2012 for Model Number SXD22S2L I am having some trouble with my refrigerator ice maker. I am not getting water up to my ice maker. Do you have some answers for that problem? It does not seem to be frozen. The valve is out, I checked with a tester and I am not getting a reading of 120 volts at the valve with the bar on the icemaker in the down position. What voltage should I have at the valve? Thank you, Fred
1 Answer Hello Barbara/Fred, You will have 0Vac at the water valve until the ice maker cycles and the points in the ice maker close. At that time you will have 120Vac for about 7 seconds. To test the ice maker you will need a piece of insulated wire, stripped on each end to jump the voltage over the ice maker thermostat from terminal "T" to terminal "H". You may need to close the door switch as some ice makers are wired through the door switch so it won't drop ice while putting groceries away. Jumping these terminals should begin a cycle and you will only have 2 or so minutes to look at the test meter. The test meter should be on the terminals to the water valve that has the fill tube going from it up the back of the unit. Near the end of the cycle, you should see 120Vac for about 7 seconds. If you never get the voltage, you will need to replace the ice maker D7824706Q. If you do see the voltage, you will need to replace the water inlet valve WPW10245167. Read More...
Dan M. June 16, 2012 for Model Number ssd22nw amana side by side fridge I have a side by side amana fridge and all I see in the back bottom to attach the water for water and ice maker is a male connection and do not know what to attach to it. I can not find a diagram or picture or part number. I need whatever I connect to my water hose that connects to the "garden hose size" looking connection in the fridge. can anyone please help? Dan Tampa MrDanBalloonMan@aol.com thank you so much
1 Answer Hi Dan. You will need to purchase the Coupler adapter part # 10244903 for the water valve part # WPW10245167. Thank You. Read More...
Mike June 11, 2012 for Model Number sqd25vl Can you have too much water pressure for the water outlet or ice maker to work? The valves open when water is off but will not open when water is turned on.
1 Answer Hello Mike, Your water pressure should be in the range of 80 to 90 PSI. If your water pressure exceeds 120, the water valve will not open. Read More...
Cindy February 03, 2012 for Model Number sxd25aw After 5 yrs we connected the refrigerator to a water source, the ice maker worked as great as it did before we moved into our current residence(5 yrs ago.) The water though kept dripping out of the dispenser. Do we need to replace the water valve intlet on the back of the refigerator or is there another possible to solution to get the drip to stop. (It is a rather fast drip, and after waiting 5 yrs to have the ice maker connected I want to keep my hubby on this project until it is fixed. Please let me know soon. Thanks Cindy
1 Answer Cindy, Disconnect the water dispenser water line from the door assembly (remove the lickplate, locate the double hose connector, and disconnect one of the hoses), use a large pitcher or container and press the water dispenser paddle, and allow 2 to 3 quarts of water to flow through the supply tube, into the pitcher. Reattach the hose, and using a large glass dispense another quart of water through the dispenser, into the glass. This should "flush" out all the air and debris in the system and the dripping should cease. If not, then replace the fill valve WPW10245167. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
