The Lid Switch Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This kit includes the lid switch and all necessary components for installation. The lid switch ensures that the washing machine operates only when the lid is securely closed, acting as a safety mechanism to prevent accidents.

Over time, the lid switch can fail due to repeated use, exposure to moisture, or accidental damage. Electrical issues can also affect its functionality, making it necessary to replace the switch to restore proper operation.

Symptoms of a bad lid switch include:

  • The washing machine not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • The drum not spinning or agitating
  • The lid not locking properly during operation
  • Error codes related to lid issues

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Lid Switch Kit (Part Number: OEM12025947)

Cga for Model Number MAV9600EWW

I have a Maytag MAV9600EWW washer. Every once in a while, the machine won't initiate a spin cycle automatically. This happens in all 3 cycles. It will start normally but sometimes when it finally gets to the spin cycle it doesn't engage. I have to manually put it in a spin mode to get the water to drain and spin out the wet clothes. This happens intermittently. Looking around in the console or the tub housing, I see nothing loose or broken. Looking at the lid switch cam, it is loose and 'floppy'. It activates a plunger-like rod to a switch up in the console. I'm wondering if this loosness is possibly causing it and why the problem is intermittent.

Peter, The first check to make is the lid, make sure it hasn't bowed in/down in the center, check the center of the back of the lid, in the actuator area, there may be discoloration(rust) or in some cases you can actually see the crack in the metal. If all's OK then install the lid switch assembly 12001908, including the plunger

Tami, There is a spring that goes around the shaft of the plunger before it is installed. This would be the most likely place for the spring.

Hello Mandy, This is most likely the lid switch 12001908 or an adjustment of the switch or the switches plunger installation. As a note, be sure to make sure the lid hinge screws are tight and the switch actuator, (lid cam), 22003942 is in proper position.

Hello Carlos, This can be a bad drain pump WP6-2022030 or debris in the pump. This doesn't eliminate other issue such as a bad spin bearing but more information would be needed for a more in depth diagnosis (such as a roaring sound during spin, etc.).

Lala, The lid switch would not cause the issue that you are having. The most likely cause for the issue will be a seized up water pump. The part number WP35-6465.
