Cga January 05, 2020 for Model Number MAV9600EWW I have a Maytag MAV9600EWW washer. Every once in a while, the machine won't initiate a spin cycle automatically. This happens in all 3 cycles. It will start normally but sometimes when it finally gets to the spin cycle it doesn't engage. I have to manually put it in a spin mode to get the water to drain and spin out the wet clothes. This happens intermittently. Looking around in the console or the tub housing, I see nothing loose or broken. Looking at the lid switch cam, it is loose and 'floppy'. It activates a plunger-like rod to a switch up in the console. I'm wondering if this loosness is possibly causing it and why the problem is intermittent.
1 Answer Hello CGA, the lid switch is 12001908, if the switch is replaced and the problem still occurs then the timer is faulty, the timer is part 22003445 but shows as no longer available due to being discontinued by the manufacturer. Read More...
Peter February 11, 2017 for Model Number MAV4500AWW I watched the video to replace the washer lid switch. It seems the plunger is worn and not making enough contact to activate the switch. If I push in with a pen, the switch works. In the video, he says I don't need the plunger. Is there any other fix instead of buying the whole switch repair kit?
1 Answer Peter, The first check to make is the lid, make sure it hasn't bowed in/down in the center, check the center of the back of the lid, in the actuator area, there may be discoloration(rust) or in some cases you can actually see the crack in the metal. If all's OK then install the lid switch assembly 12001908, including the plunger Read More...

Tami S March 09, 2016 for Model Number mavt634aww When we took out the old switch a spring flew out. Where does this go on the new switch or is in build in.
1 Answer Tami, There is a spring that goes around the shaft of the plunger before it is installed. This would be the most likely place for the spring. Read More...

Mandy January 18, 2015 for Model Number MAV5000AWQ My washer will start, fill with water and then stop at some point in the process. When we go to restart it, it won't restart. We'll come back to it sometime later and so far, have been able to get it to start back. I think it is the lid switch. Does this sound right and are there instructions on how to change it? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Mandy, This is most likely the lid switch 12001908 or an adjustment of the switch or the switches plunger installation. As a note, be sure to make sure the lid hinge screws are tight and the switch actuator, (lid cam), 22003942 is in proper position. Read More...
Carlos B. July 06, 2014 for Model Number LAT3500AAE The washer was spinning and stopped with water in side. Can you tell me what could be the problem?
1 Answer Hello Carlos, This can be a bad drain pump WP6-2022030 or debris in the pump. This doesn't eliminate other issue such as a bad spin bearing but more information would be needed for a more in depth diagnosis (such as a roaring sound during spin, etc.). Read More...
Lala June 09, 2014 for Model Number mav8600aww My washer stopped on the spin mode, filled with water and clothes. There was a buzzing sound and a burnt rubber smell.Would that be a lid switch problem?
1 Answer Lala, The lid switch would not cause the issue that you are having. The most likely cause for the issue will be a seized up water pump. The part number WP35-6465. Read More...
