How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011888 / WP8183592 Light Bulb (Baseless)

I researched on the net, ordered the part, it arrived the next day. Took about 45 minutes to replace. Fairly easy fix. 

My daughter got onto your website, looked up my microwave, then the bulb and ordered it.It arrived very quickly, even though it was during the holidays. There were no instructions in the owners manual for such a simple repair. We had to look up the model and then read how to take the cover off the whole machine. 

I looked up the part I needed from AppliancePartsPros.com and ordered it. Being that I changed out my husbands headlights on his Toyota Tundra, I thought this would be a snap. I followed the instructions that I found online. Actually a combination of them. I did have to have a special little ratchet that the bit had a little hole in the middle to accept a couple of funny looking screws that helped hold the cover on the unit. Sent my hubby to Lowes and had to spend $10 for a miniature set of all kinds of goodies to go with the ratchet. Worked like a charm. Removed the old bulb and screwed the one screw back into place to hold the bulb in, and put the cover back on. Tricky. Have to align the front edges just right to get the inside lip of the microwave to slide into the slots on the cover. Did it by myself! Slide the oven back onto its place on the counter top: no light. Couldn't deal with that at the time. Tomorrow's another day. Read that it could be other costly things such as the door latches and the board. Today, after church, after I was calm, I took the cover off of the microwave. There it was. I forgot to plug the connection into the light bulb unit. Hate to admit it, but I own it, and I have light. 

My wife and I slid out the microwave and placed it on the counter. We took off the top panel of the microwave to gain access to the bulb. Replacing the bulb was a simple process.

Been putting off replacing the bull cause it required completely removing the double stacked me/oven and digging inside. Once I removed the bulb with the socket I tried removing the bucks from the socket and cut my thumb severely. The bulb broke in my hand. It is glued into the socket and is not intended to be separated. Once the me/oven is removed from the cabinet, replacing this bulb wasn’t difficult. Can’t believe there isn’t a way to replace it without removing the whole stack! I had to replace the oven blower is the reason I pulled it all out. 

We own a built-in Jenn-Air (Whirlpool) microwave oven. When the oven light burned out I was left baffled as to how to replace it; there was no obvious way to access the bulb. After a bit of Internet sleuthing I found out that I would have to uninstall and disconnect the oven from the cabinet and partially disassemble the oven's housing. I also found out that it required a special bulb, available only from certain suppliers. Luckily Appliance Parts Pros stocked the bulb and provided the information necessary to replace it. The bulb arrived promptly and a few days later I uninstalled the oven and replaced the bulb. While most handy people can do this, have a helper available to unplug the oven as you pull it out of the cabinet and possibly to help carry the oven to a work surface. The only necessary tools are a normal #2 phillips head screwdriver and a stubby one. If you don't have a stubby screwdriver, that's OK- you'll just need to take off the top of the oven enclosure too. The rest is just disassembly and reassembly. Be careful because there are two screws that have different threading from the others. Make a note of them and where they came from so you can put them back in the correct holes! That's it! 

Received the new lamp in 2 days and it worked great…Removed microwave from cabinet, took the cover off ( hardest part) and removed the lamp with one screw at the inside top. Reversed the order and done! 

Remove the microwave case. Remove and replace light assy. reinstall case. Getting the case off was a problem due to two pin-in-head screws. didn't have a driver to remove so work came to a halt until a driver was located. Fairly simple process after that. 

Watched the video and replaced the magnetron and light bulb. Works good now.
