How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6047972 / W11043011 Module

I ordered the correct part. It was super simple. I removed the plastic light cover being held in with a Phillips screw, popped it out, exposing the faulty light panel. It unplugged easily. Plugged in the new panel and put the cover back on. Five minutes tops. 

Disconnected module connector and after several tests with multimeter ordered new part and installed. 

This is the second time this has failed in five years. AppliancePartsPros.com really helped keep the cost down as this is a large unit light and can be very expensive. Pretty easy fix, just getting to the unit, extracting and replacing it is the difficult part. 

I ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros.com by accident. I thought I was searching the Whirlpool site. When I was ordering I spoke to a very helpful lady, but when I asked if I was ordering the part at Whirlpool, she said no this is AppliancePartsPros, but our prices are discounted off the Whirlpool price. She was right I went to the Whirlpool site and the part was over $80 and here it was under $55. With the shipping and tax, it was almost $70 for a small circuit board. The item was shipped out that day. I received it the next day. Upon arrival, I thought the package was something my wife ordered because I wasn't expecting it to come that fast. I delayed installation until the weekend because I wasn't sure how easy or difficult it would be to install. I watched a video of how to install it (I am no handyman) and I installed it in less than 10 minutes. 

Looked up the Whirlpool Refrigerator model & a complete diagram appeared. I called the appliance parts rep, and the rep was very knowledgeable and confirmed what part I needed to order. The part arrived on time, and we pulled the fuse switch to shut the power to the fridge. It was very easy to replace the light fixture and it was completed in about 5 minutes. 

Single screw removal, unplug broken light, plug new light. Straight forward, 10 minute repair. 

I removed the light module (one screw, one wire plug). I found a part number and ordered a replacement. The correct replacement arrived in a few days. It went back together very easily and it worked. 

Replace the LED module. 

The hardest part was getting the screw out of the cover. Replacing the light was quick and easy. The light has been out for awhile because we couldn’t find it in home depot or lowes,there were other sites that listed it but the price was more and reviews weren’t good. Delivery was as promised.
