How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5183444 / W10401225 Door Glass

I recently purchased my home and was going around doing the little repairs that needed to be attended to. I found the handle on the oven was loose. This is when I learned a valuable lesson. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE HANDLE SCREWS. I shattered the glass door. This part was a perfect replacement. Looks great. 

Carefully replaced it with the new outer panel. The old one broke while I reattached the door handle (the screws that attach it fell out) so I was very careful while attaching the door handle to the new panel. It would have been helpful to know how tight the screws should be but I could not find that information. 

Found appliancepartspro.com while googling how to fix. You can find helpful youtube videos. Better to remove the protective film wrapping on new panel after you've completed the job. To start, remove oven door. My door was quite sturdy even with front glass shattered. Flip the latches at each hinge to 90 degrees, with oven door opened half way, firmly lift and pull oven door away from oven, the hinges should freely detach from oven, and oven door comes out. (Note: door weighs about 25 lbs.) Lay door down on protected surface, handle side up; remove 4 screws, 2 on top and two on bottom of door (which secures brackets that support the panel at bottom). Once outer door panel is removed, remove the 4 screws of oven handle from old panel; put handle on the new panel and hand tight the screws (don't over tighten otherwise you might damage the new panel). With oven door laying on flat surface, place new panel handle side up, onto the oven door; secure top 2 screws first, then secure the bottom 2 brackets. Insert the oven door back into place.

Ordered part from you and replaced it. However the part seems somewhat warped and does not fit as well as the original and makes me question if this is a genuine replacement part or a knockoff. 

I broke the original glass door panel when I was trying to tighten the over door handle (which had become loose). I didn't realize the screw bracket tightened directly against the glass until it was too late and it shattered. Expensive mistake. I found the replacement panel on ApplicancePartsPros and had it in 2 days. Replacement was easy. Make sure you follow owner's manual on removing the oven door so you can easily reinstall the new outer panel (it requires flipping latches on the door hinges, but then lifts right out). 

We Google searched our model for parts and found your website. There were 3 different oven glasses for our model, so we called your customer service to make sure we were purchasing the correct part. We received prompt, friendly, excellent help. The part was shipped and received within 2 days. My husband and I removed the broken part and replaced it ourselves. The repair cost under $! Much better than paying to have it fixed or paying thousands to replace it!
